[up] Right, I forgot that detail. I had it in my head that it was a case of Not Proven.

There was an article I saw today (I didn't think to bookmark it and now I can't find it) about how Goodell claims to follow his father's legacy of doing the right thing even personal cost, when the complete opposite is true.. Basically Goodell's dad was a moderate Republican Senator who opposed Nixon and it cost him his political career, and Goodell is a total opportunist who is willing to look the other way as long as he can get away with it.

And Goodell is starting to look more and more like Nixon.

And yet somehow, "Tin soldiers and Goodell's coming. We're finally on our own," doesn't quite have the same ring to it.

if you look at the rate of criminality in the NFL and the rate of criminality of 18-30 year old males, the NFL comes out with a lower percentage. it's just that these stars have more media presence, and the media is all up in everything these days due to the internet.

yeah, it's easy to say "well these guys are NFL players and are on the upper tier of society" but you gotta remember that most of these players are poor dudes who suddenly got plopped with fame.

i'm not defending their actions; just saying that the world hasn't all of a sudden gone to shit with kids these days.

The NFL is a behemoth, but it reflects the darker aspects of society. It will eventually fizzle out. Teflon Football will not last long.

I can honestly say that I did not expect the Browns to beat the Saints. They really have to be concerned about their defense at this point. You can't just keep giving up leads at the last second. You're not going to win many games that way.

Meanwhile the Packers are down 21-6 against the Jets. I am feeling kind of sick.

If anyone was going to knock Seattle down a peg, I'm glad it was San Diego because that's the other team I root for.

At least you guys won. We lost to the Chargers. I know it was an odd road game with very unfriendly temperatures, but we still should have won that game.

I think that as of today, Jordy Nelson has officially reached the status of "elite WR".

I thought he had been an elite WR for some time. He seemed to make some insane toe-tapping catch almost every week last year, and is one of the most sure-handed receivers in the league.

This was like watching your best friend getting arrested for the fourth time. On one hand, you want to be there to support them and help them, but on the other hand, you just want to stop and move on already and just give up all hope forever.

I think this quote sums up today's game against Washington perfectly.

At this point he's just made of glass. Can't run as confidently and can't get his legs to power deep bombs.

Eagles pull out one out again, but being a Philly fan can't be good for my stress levels.

Forward, boys! For God's sake, forward!

This is a catastrophe. I will forever know this period as the Week of Hell for the NFL.

Man, last night was a joke. I'm pretty sure most high school teams can beat the Bucs right now.
