"Misleadingly altered image"? As in it's misleading about the trope?
Fight smart, not fair. No, but it's misleading about what the image looked like in its original context, and that's bad enough.
"The Daily Show has to be right 100% of the time; FOX News only has to be right once." - Jon StewartAlso, there's different qualities between the image.
Alt account of Angeldog 2437.It had eight days, as opposed to 12 for all the other choices. That's plenty of time for people to support it or not.
And frankly I fail to see what's "misleading" about the chosen image.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Um, but what about the quality issue? The 1st 2 images look brighter in comparison to the rest.
Alt account of Angeldog 2437.The last image does look oddly washed-out. Though that's not a reason to take it down. Just find a better version.
Belief or disbelief rests with you.The image is awesome, keep it.
First of all, I don't think that "it's misleading about what the image looked like in its original context" after all, the point of the strip was that Calvin had Moral Myopia, and the edited versions are trying to ilustrate the concept of Moral Myopia. And second, we need to edit the picture to avoid copyright.
Also, here is a suggestion, I cut part of the final panel, and changed it to a 2x2 arrangement.
And it's misleading because it makes it look like Calvin saying "as far as I'm concerned the ends justify the means" was bolded in-context. This in turn gives the wrong impression as to how loudly he said that in the comic, given the use of bolding to indicate volume. We can use a higher-quality image◊ if we want to make the text clearer.
EDITED IN: Here is another panel arrangement I've come up with...

"The Daily Show has to be right 100% of the time; FOX News only has to be right once." - Jon StewartStill, I don't think it's misleadingly edited, if you didn't tell me I would've never thought that Calvin's dialogue was bolded, and even after you said that, it doesn't look bolded to me.
And it may be just me, but that one looks really bad, it is brighter but the actual quality of it is way worse plus the text is kind of blurry and the image itself is smaller.

"The Daily Show has to be right 100% of the time; FOX News only has to be right once." - Jon StewartI prefer the one you just posted, Matt. Looks cleaner to me and the edited dialogue isn't obvious.
Don't take life too seriously. It's only a temporary situation.I agree.
Bumping after... wow, I didn't realize it's been a couple months until now. o.o
Anyway, anyone else want to weigh in on my most recent panel arrangement?
"The Daily Show has to be right 100% of the time; FOX News only has to be right once." - Jon StewartI still like it.
I went ahead and put the latest version of the pic on the page since this has really lagged. Locking up.
We had a thread on this before, but I don't think my "without being misleadingly altered" alternative was given a fair enough chance to gain votes.
Also, I don't think it's a good precedent to set that you can put a misleadingly altered image on the page just because popular opinion is backing you up on it.
