I'm a fan of Cronenberg. I love to see another of my kind here.
My favourite film by him is Scanners, though The Fly is pretty damn good too.
Besides those two, I've seen Dead Ringers and Spider, both of which are psychedelic thrillers with fantastic performances by their main stars.

The Fly. Love his other stuff though, particularly Videodrome. There's one part in it that made me feel queasy.

Does anyone know what Naked Lunch or Existen Z is like?
"Contests fought between two masters are decided instantly. An invisible battle is now raging between the two of them." Lulu vs SchneizelNaked Lunch is very difficult to watch—mainly due to how incomprehensible it is on a first viewing, especially if you're not familiar with William S. Burroughs and his work. Overall though, I think it's a pretty good film with some interesting commentary on the life of William S. Burroughs and a nice addition to Cronenberg's filmography.
Existen Z is a mixed bag. Seems to be very much a "Love it or hate it" movie. I think it's one of Cronenberg's worst, but I didn't despise the film. I was frustrated by the lack of plot development and character motivation. You really have no idea what is really going on until the end, but not in the good way. I would have really disliked it had I not have enjoyed the performances and the ending. I suggest giving it a look and develop your own opinion.

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.Only seen The Fly, Videodrome, Eastern Promises and much of The Brood. Videodrome is probably my favorite; so many layers to that movie, exceedingly creepy and well-made to boot. Eastern Promises comes in second for, again, it's layers, and how uncommonly uplifting it turned out (considering the subject matter especially); needless to say, it kept me on edge 'til the end.
I thought The Fly was above average, but nothing special compared to the others above it. From what I saw of The Brood, however, I was not really impressed.

I actually kinda like Naked Lunch, but The Fly is definitely one of my favourites. Some awesome puppetry in those movies. Pity today's directors don't employ the same methods.
Theres sex and death and human grime in monochrome for one thin dime and at least the trains all run on time but they dont go anywhere.Nobody else here has seen Spider?
I did. But my favorite is They Came From Within, aka Shivers.
Oh gawd, I thought I was the only one who loved Shivers. :D As for my favorite Cronenberg flick, gotta go Videodrome.
Not seen much of his work to be honest, but yeah, The Fly is probably one of my favourite movies. CGI just can't match how visceral and unnerving practical effects can be.
The Fly, The Thing, and Little Shop of Horrors are three films that I will regularly show to people if ever they say that practical effects are crap
"Contests fought between two masters are decided instantly. An invisible battle is now raging between the two of them." Lulu vs SchneizelI would also suggest Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde starring Frederick March. Seriously, the transformation scene is beyond incredible.

Mr. Cronenberg's first novel, Consumed, is coming out in September 2014. I've read an advance review copy, and...it's very Cronenberg.
My favourite one of Cronenberg's films is "Crash". Based on the James Ballard book, and it is as weird and twisted as heck.
Dave is quickly becoming one of my favourite directors. I've seen The Fly, Videodrome, The Brood, and Scanners. Loved em all.
I'm wondering what you people think of his other films (whether I should see them or not), and what your overall favourite Cronenberg film is (if you indeed have one)
Mine is The Fly
