Yes yes how convenient that it picked the other half of a Sakura, one that Parvati is expliticlty mentioned to have gotten with all the good parts, after we already had the Sakura AI clone BB became an Evil of Humanity in CCC and Nyarly's bestie, and was doing it before Kama and was even tied directly to Kiara Sesshouin, Kama's R half.

@Arha: Being a tyrant is inherently being a bad leader, yes.

People are responsible for their actions. So the people's rejection of Arturia is on them, not her. This is why when someone is murdered, we don't pardon the murderer and punish the police. People are idiots. That isn't Artoria's fault.

Iskander had no good points and I don't see the things you call "flaws" of Arturia as being flaws at all.

A king is measured by how they compare to those worst off. Gilgamesh owns everything. That makes him about as terrible a king as he is possible to be. His people hated him so much, they prayed to the gods to punish him. And he's a rapist.

Edit: As for Arturia being a general instead of a king, well, I don't believe kings should exist, so yeah.

Artoria had super soldiers with super weapons and still resorted to village scorching a bunch of times

because depriving invading hordes of your own resources is hard apparently

granted only 3-5 of them were able to handle armies on their own and they were probably busy with other things so I'm exaggerating a lot

Regardless Gil created a utopia while Artoria's empire imploded & became nothing.

He was the greatest king.

Also yes we get it, monarchy is bad democracy is good, yadda yadda.

granted Uruk was kinda retconned from mats from some futuristic utopia to some regular happy village

Okay I don't think you know what leadership is so I'll just give up here.

It's not a Utopia if there's rape. Gil raped his subjects. That makes him the worst king.

Also, how long a kingdom lasts is irrelevant.

(Also, democracy is not good either. It is just better than monarchy.)

Edit: Leadership is servanthood. It is treating every other thing in existence as better than yourself

Fate's continued wanking of a rapist is one of its most disturbing aspects. Even if Gil did improve.

Also he wanted to bone Arturia. No man with taste that bad can be a good ruler.

Everyone wants to bone Artoria, that's not exclusive to Gil.

TBF, Gilgamesh only became a good ruler after Enkidu speared some sense into him. Literally and metaphorically. The one we all know is the asshole at the start of the story.

CCC had already been clear Gil's temperment changes based entirely on the environment of humanity.

The Moon Cell/Age of Gods is him at his less dickish, while modern era of humanity is him at his worse because he shared the same air as Shinji Matou. It's why he's not all visual novel evil bad guy in UBW in Ufotable and isn't ripping Illyas heart out with sadistic glee since he originally went from "Otome Rival" to "Harem Antagonist" and boy does it show in FSN.

Gilgamesh also sacrifices his treasures as weapons for his subjects to use via the Great Wall built that uses his weapons as projectiles to explode demonic beasts.

And is actively sustaining multiple servants to fight Demonic Beasts.

And goes days and weeks without sleep doing bureacratic work concerning his subjects, seeing countless citizens daily.

He literally dies from overwork in FGO.

An aspect of Gil that explains part of his character in CCC -but doesn’t excuse his douchebaggery- is that his power and clairvoyance made him suffer a severe case of Lonely at the Top when he became a teenager, mixed as well with an existential crisis at the prospect of dying without achieving anything in spite of everything he did at this point.

Hence why Enkidu was so important for him to develop as a person since he was the only one that he could call an equal.

Gil's a complicated guy.

He's an asshole and a moron half the time, I'm still amazed Ko-Gil spawned into him.

Ko-Gil is also kind of a prick though.

Enkidu keeps trying to make people be Gil's friend by popping up in their heads, as he did Hakuno.

Because he wants Gil to move on.

Ko-Gil will treat you with respect (even if it might be to take advantage of you a bit), is generally a good kid and his moments of assholishness like the incident with Janta just adds to his gap moe.

when your friend is so desperate to remain friendless it can't be helped. Hell Enkidu can't make new friends or even acquaintances thanks to Gil cause he insists that any friend of Enkidu should be able to beat him. Though he seems to have let up a hit in grand order, even if Enkidu's choices of compainionship arr...unideal

Character development does explain a lot, but why is servant!Gil pre-character development?

Servants can be summoned at different points of time, and he was at his peak when he wasn't a bureacrat ruler.

Notice that his Archer self wears the golden armor while his Caster self dons a more casual approach.
