I tend to do completion later.
Though I am working on collecting every Pokemon. I guess that's the exception.
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyI can get way OCD about it on first run throughs. Heck, if I don't have 3 stars in Angry Birds or Cut the Rope, I'm not moving on. I don't want to go back and get 100% later, I want it when I beat the game.
So. Let's all pause for a moment to smell what the Rock was, is, and forever will be... cooking.—Cave JohnsonI usually try to do everything possible in a game first, though a lot of thigs I might miss out on or skip.
Generally my "get everything possible" playthrough is the third one.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."I thought I was alone. Do you use a guide when you try for a 100% completion on the first run?
...a little brother should belong to his older sister, right? - Orimura ChifuyuIt depends on the game, I guess. Sometimes I don't even strive for 100%.
Only for the occasional Guide Dang It!.
So. Let's all pause for a moment to smell what the Rock was, is, and forever will be... cooking.—Cave JohnsonI'm rarely interested in such things. If I end up with 100% completion then its a happy accident.
Same here, I think I've only gotten 100% in a few games.
I only start going for 100% if there's stuff you can miss and never get again once you pass it. Otherwise, i'm often like eh whatever let's just use this stuff it's pretty good already.
Now, if it's score or grade-based, that stuff often ends up making me incredibly angry so I tend to not do every last thing ever.

Forget the tropes until after you're done.I only 100% in RPGS that give significant rewards for doing so And/Or Bonus bosses.
Apocalypse: Dirge Of Swans.Depends on the game. I recently tried to get 100% completion for Etrian Odyssey , but I gave up due to some of the item drops being annoying to get. Usually I don't bother for similar reasons.
Taking a break from FE1, for the FE8 draft insteadI recently tried to get 100% completion for Etrian Odyssey
Is that EVEN possible? I heard no one has successfully done it yet, even in EO 3.

...a little brother should belong to his older sister, right? - Orimura ChifuyuNot really going for 100% in Just Cause 2, but I like picking up goodies and blowing up stuff when convenient.
"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelTrying to get 100% (or at least all of the achivements) for Deus Ex 3.
Deus Ex 3 marks the only game I've yet to try and get 100%. I've done everything else, so a pacifist run on easy should be cake.
Also, I've beaten it on normal and hard, so I might as well beat it on easy.

Always.
The sin of silence when they should protest makes cowards of men.The only fame I ever got 100% on was Lego Batman, Only because I had the guide and doing that was the only way to unlock Ra's Al Ghul.
You guys like Let's Plays? You guys like shameless plugs? Well, come on down! The only games I ever got close to completing 100% were the first two Golden Sun games and the second Shining Soul. I usually leave the last 'level' of obscurity or difficulty of secrets and all link cable content untouched. My sister on the other hand usually has a walkthrough with her from start to finish, a habit of hers that dates back to the days when she had to print out 50 or so pages per game on a 56k connection.

I just want to ask and discuss: Does any of you strive for a perfect 100% complete game on the very first run? Or do you finish the game first and complete it later?
