That's a horrible pic...and honestly, I'm not down with the "three Snakes" pic either, it's way too dark and jumbled. I'd say either a logo or the box art for the first game in the series is good enough.
Not a fan of the current or the suggestion.

IMO let's find a good pic of Metal Gear Solid or Solid 2's Snake in a sneaking suit.

No cover artworks! The game-specific pages already have the ones for their corresponding games and it'll be wrong to have one cover represent the entire franchise in that case. The MGS 2 Solid Snake illustration is not that suitable for the page either, since it's from one specific game.
If my previously suggested image is not good enough, how about this one

Yeah, that was a bit speedy, considering the thread's only been open for about 12 hours, and overnight for the US on a weekend day at that. The number of posters in this section of the forums is at it's lowest on the weekend.

I'll be blunt, the current image on the Metal Gear page sucks! It's nothing more than a joke image that hardly represents the entire series. I originally changed it to a generic "Metal Gear" logo, but then some other user reverted my change and insisted on using something more visually appealing than a logo. So I decided to put an image from the Metal Gear 20th Anniversary album cover that shows three different incarnations of Snake (MGS1-3). Some other user reverted my change and then insisted on making a thread here.
This is the image I've uploaded.
