You know that little bits of white stuff you get on chocolate after you leave it in the fridge after a few days? They'll invent something to stop that.

@Tam H 70: I predict that a lot of potential tech will be stymied out of fear, the argument from ignorance fallacy and the fact that some tech will be so different and strange to us as the space shuttle would be different and strange to a medieval peasant.

An artificial uterus would be a godsend to families that can't conceive and to gay couples. Yes there might be abuses, but a hammer can build a house or smash a head in. It's who holds the tool. If some people object on religious grounds, they don't have to use it.

Forcing people to use any tool is just as immoral as denying it.

[up] If a tool is so much better than the old methods, eventually everyone will have to adopt it though.

For example, most professionals and jobs nowadays require the use of a computer nowadays. Therefore if you need the money you'll be pretty much forced to use a computer. Not to mention that social pressures and whatnot as well. I vaguely remember reading somewhere that it is believed that in the future it is pretty much expected to post status updates in social sites like twitter, because those who do not will be viewed with suspicion (why are you not updating? Are you doing something criminal and wants no one to know?) and ostracized.

That "participatory panopticon" stuff that people talk about creeps the hell out of me. I like privacy, thank you very much.

I vowed, and so did you: Beyond this wall- we would make it through.

That's what worries me. I don't want to be found on somedays.

Many soldiers keep two cell phones, one for the army, the other for friends and family. On weekends, if it's not an emergency they won't answer either one.

Everyone has something to hide and the first company to help them hide it will be living the life of riley.
