So my PS 4 is collecting dust as neither Dragon Age Inquisition nor Fallout 4 did much for me. Was thinking, since it's been about seven years since I played FFX, I'd get the HD Edition.
Just wondering, and I'm sure this has been asked in here so forgive me, how much of an effect the Expert Sphere Grid has on gameplay? Does it substantially alter character growth in terms of abilities or stats or is everyone still bound to their role and play the same?
I'm looking for some sort of challenge run or whatever to significantly alter the experience seeing as I have played it several times and it's all rather routine by this point.

The Expert Grid is a lot more open, so you can essentially cross-class everyone from the very beginning if you want, or at least pick up extra skills while sticking to one's own path.
There is less stats on the grid so the game will be slightly harder, not by much though.
Those stats really only matter in the postgame grind. Also it matters for people who didn't pay attention to the sphere grid tutorials and do something stupid like make auron a white mage.
Apocalypse: Dirge Of Swans.Nah its noticeable in normal gameplay as there are a lot more +1 stats and blank spots on the grid. But considering how easy the game normally it only straight up affects how you go at a few story boss fights.
It's a lot more fun though.

Something I didn't notice in the years since this game's original version came out until just now.
The Scar left at the Calm Lands... "The high summoner and Sin struck each other down at the gorge's bottom. Lord Gandof's sacrifice brought us the Calm."
A nice reference to Gandalf fighting the Balrog in the LOTR book? Incidentally, the first LOTR movie, which included that battle, debuted a week after the US release of FFX (and 5 months after the Japanese version).
The sad, REAL American dichotomyFinal Fantasy X is currently trending on Facebook... because reasons.

The sad, REAL American dichotomyAbout 2 years since the last post, but this news is important:
The Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster, AND several other classic games, are coming to Switch!
The sad, REAL American dichotomy
Poison is your friend in the second and third Seymour fights. It was hilarious watching him suffer. I've done it numerous times back when it was just the original version.
