If I remember correctly, it's Danny thanking Dina for letting him stay over, followed by an inquiry about her hat.

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies. It is almost like that was the whole point of the event or something!
And now no one can say that kiss was solely because Dina was pissed
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite. The first one, but not the second.
"Show us the Galaxy Warp."I strongly suspect that Willis' been converted by the Tumblreligion long ago and she's making everyone bi or gay because Straight People Are Evil.
Yeah, I mean look at those antagonists, Dorothy, Amber, Joyce, Walky, Sal, Jason, Sarah, Joe, Jacob...
Seriously dude what are you even talking about? There is no tumblreligion. At best there is an even ratio (compare the cast page) of straight and bi/gay/ace folk.

Read my stories! And Willis is a dude anyway
Oh really when?Out of the 18 characters in the cast page, I counted 6 who are not heterossexual (counting Dina). 8 if you count Mike and Carlanote .
Yeah, about half of the cast, at best. Hardly "everyone". And, of course, no one in the cast page is even close to be "evil". Some of them are jerks, but that is it.
If David have a bias against any group, I would say it is against parents. Really, of the 8 characters who have their parents to appear on screen, only two of them, Dorothy and Dina, don't have at last one of them who have severe character flaws.

Oh, yeah, forgot about them. 3 out of 9, then. Not a great ratio, nonetheless.
I actually do honestly think this is a reflection of Willis issues with his parents. From the sound of it, they were quite repressive.

Bias, being able to write bad parent relationships from experience or both?
I was mostly joking. It is just really noteworthy how so many of the parents in the story are rather shitty. But, yeah, it is probably because of experience. But I obviously don't think he actually believes parents are evil by default.

College is also when parents tend to get their craziest. Worried about their kids' futures and all that.
College was when my parents were the most agreeable.
It is only when I started graduate school that they went truly crazy.
"..."I suspect it's just that shitbag parents are an easy way to generate conflict. If all the parents were relatively well-adjusted, "Hangin' Out with the Family" would've been pretty boring.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies. And considering how most stories are 99% straight characters, I fail to see how adding loads of non-straight people is a bad idea.
Willis menage to do just fine with a mostly alright cast. There is plenty conflict that can be born from alright parents and college students. But a fair share of DoA's parents are kinda fucked up. Danny's for example, normally they would be just some strict parents who are disappointed at their son. That creates conflict alright. But here they are outright mean to Danny unless Danny proves himself with a girlfriend. I felt kinda creepy. I wasn't expecting his parents to be awful.
Btw, I am not criticizing Willis. I actually really like his take on dysfunctional family dynamics. I felt Blaine was too cartoonish evil, but the other parents stroke a nice balance. It is just I noticed a trend here that is not common elsewhere.

Oh damn
Oh really when?Oh right. I dropped my Patreonage down below a dollar for financial reasons at THE (latest) WORST POSSIBLE TIME.
Fresh-eyed movie blogOh shit
(that is another parent I forgot have technically appeared on screen, btw)
EDIT:In other news, it is good to know Joyce conflicting feelings is not due to lingering homophobia.

As a molecular biologist, this is not much better, really.
"..."Joyce must die.
The last word in the second panel looks like "night". Maybe a discussion of the party?
