Maid RPG - The Manor Is Not Enough

Interest check for a Maid RPG, to be done on the bulletin boards. Please only sign up if you'll be able to post AT LEAST once a week, more frequently preferred.

Setting: You are a maid at Spyhold, the ancestrial manor of Dan Jebsom. Dan Jebsom is a secret agent for the British Government and is currently protecting the MacGuffin Papers; a set of top secret government documents that several rival / evil spy agencies would give their eye teeth for. He has returned to Spyhold to rest up. Your mission is to make his stay comfortable and relaxing... while making sure no enemy agents get the MacGuffin papers. Seduction, weaponry, and traps are all good. Of course, some maids may secretly be working for one of the rival agencies, trying to get the Macguffin papers for themselves.

I'm up for a game of Maid RPG.

Hmmm I'm not familiar with all the rules but I'd be willing to give it a go, sounds fun. I'll see about rolling something up later.

Alhazred: I know, that's what finally inspired me to try running one of my own. Hopefully, if I'm the GM, I can try to keep it running. Maybe one of the ground rules should be that if you don't post within a certain time frame (Say, one week), your character is assumed to have been killed/knocked unconscious by some deus ex machina. What do you three think?

Well, the mansion is owned by a spy. There are probably lots of secret doors, false turns and traps around that the maids usually avoid without even thinking about it, unless they are unlucky or... distracted. That should be an easy way to get unresponsive characters out of the way until they return.

Note: I'll get to writing a bit of background on this one soon. One of her maid qualities was a bit about personal history, so i REDACTED that one as well. It's not as if it will be hard to figure out; she has a cunning of ZERO... ^_^;

The rest of you: When you post your maid description, leave off the Maid Roots. Just private message that to me. The reason is that way if your maid roots mean you are secretly an enemy of the master, it won't be public knowledge.

Okay got ya, working on mine sorry I went silent there, had a busy night, I'll try not to do that when the actual game starts. I'm assuming that if the evil secret society quailty comes up we should pm that to you as well and leave it off the post? Remember I only half know what I'm doing here.

Along with being a maid, you are a kind of mad scientist.

In combat, you wield a hammer, either a claw hammer, a warhammer or a squeaky toy hammer. When you are extremely upset, you start crying. Due to your notable Luck, you have the ability Escape; You can completely flee from a battle without taking any Stress.

Did anyone else physically role up their character, or use the generator? Just out of curiosity.

I used the generator, since it's faster; i ended up discarding the first few characters until i got something that wasn't blatantly freakish or supernatural -_-;...

Edit: I do know that freakish and supernatural characters are half the fun of playing Maid, but this time we're playing 'Who spiked the cocktail sauce with cyanide?' in the Clue mansion, so being just a tad less suspicious can only help...

Aye, that's why I just rolled myself. Easier to eliminate the more blatant things that don't fit into spy fiction.

This is also true, but then i would have missed some of the silly stuff that the generator came up with before that point; the albino, OCD tengu stalker girl would have been fun to play. ^_^

Speaking of suspicious people, are all of the maids going to be new to Spyhold or would they have arrived at different times - and is the mansion exclusively for the master's use, or is it a sort of general safe house used by many spies working for British intelligence?

Spyhold is the ancestrial home of the Jebsom family, so it's the exclusive home of Dan Jebsom. All of the maids have been at the mansion for a couple weeks, so each knows where all the public rooms are (Master's bedrooms, kitchen, etc) but none of them know about any of the secret rooms / hidden areas yet.

The game will begin with Dan announcing that he is a spy with the MacGuffin Papers, and end after a preset in-game time limit with Dan leaving to deliver the MacGuffin papers, with a maid coming along to help him, assuming that nothing happens to the papers before then. I was thinking of setting the limit to 7 In-game days.

Just so we're clear, how explicit are we allowed to get? Could we get an MPAA or ESRB rating?

Unless I hear otherwise, I'm going to assume PG-13, meaning there will be no chance of me taking special qualities like a couple of the uniforms for #41, the Perversion part of #51, or the hermaphrodite option of "Actually a Guy"

Also, I'll need one of the other players to cooperate if I take a Relationship Special Quality.

I can't speak for anyone else, but i don't see anything wrong with the examples you named, as far as the setting goes. Per Nodrog, both sex and violence are definitely okay (or at least 'seduction' and violence), and given that we're playing with the spy thriller genre a certain level of kink probably wouldn't be out of line (though that is usually more the villain's thing...)

What sort of Relationship trait were you thinking of?

Just wanted to be certain of these things. I'm just about done with my maid, so I'll probably end up not taking them anyway.

...though I'm really debilitating whether I should go herm or not...
