[up][up][up] For instance, the public hardly knew up until recently about the Trilateral, the Bilderberg club, the Bohemian Grove or the Skulls & Bones.

Also, it has been revealed that the US dollar has been converted, back in 1913 if I remember correctly, into a money that is completely controlled by a bank cartel (12 banks), following an agreement between the Rotschild and Rockfeller houses and the president in charge back then. Meaning said banks cartel decide what the USD's value is, it's no longer indexed on gold or given value by the state according to the country's needs. (source: Eustace Mullins, Secrets of the Federal Reserve)

There are many other things but I think I'll go with those two at the moment. There are also many things that concern my own country but I'll only tell if asked.

Alrune, "Trilateral, the Bilderberg club, the Bohemian Grove or the Skulls & Bones. " have been known about for decades. And they've been a favorite topic of conspiracy theorists for just as long.

Additionally, taking the US dollar off the gold standard was most emphatically not done in secret. It was a huge topic of debate when it was done. It was about as "secret" as the information that the sun rises in the East.

...yeah, just because you didn't know about this stuff doesn't mean nobody did.

Shit, the gold standard is ancient history. Where have you been? tongue

[up] In your bed?

[up][up] You know Madrugada, for as much as I respect your intelligence and wits as well your unusual politeness and level-headedness, I've got to confess something: I don't like the term "conpiracy theorist" or its substantive.

It's an expression used as another all-purpose shutdown to cut and end each and every discussion about lobbies and webs of influence. I'm not saying this is how you intend it, I'm just stating this.

But since this is off-topic, I might make one about what I believe calling anything a "conspiracy theory" is.

In your bed?

...I don't get it...

Well, the whole thing about those "12 banks" is that they're what we call the "Federal Reserve." You know, a government institution, created by President Wilson, because we'd found that not having a central bank makes the economy take a fast nosedive into the ground at high speed.

I mean, the fact that we're not on the gold standard is pretty fundamental here. It's actually surprising you didn't know that, honestly...

You can not like the term all you want, but when someone is theorizing conspiracies everywhere, "conspiracy theorist" is a pretty accurate descriptor. And the people who are convinced that there's one or more global conspiracies to rule the world, be it the Trilateral, the Bilderbergs, the Bohemian Grove, the Skull and Bones, the Masons, the UN or anyone else, are theorizing conspiracies.

@USAF

I don't live where you live and maybe am not as versed in US politics and economy as you are. Maybe you know alot about my country's but I doubt it because you usually have to live somewhere to know what life is really like in there, as well as how information is relayed etc...

So yes I did know about it. I'm just very pleasantly surprised to find people in here who also know about it. I made this topic in other forums and people are not as knowledgeable as many of you seem to be.

@Madrugada

Sure but don't those groups actually exist and hold their meetings secret?

Bleh... my point is, and has been, that we treat these things happening now as if they're new. They're not. The world has been collapsing since civilization was founded. It just happens very slowly, and occasionally, temporarily, reverses itself.

There was just as much crap going in in 1941 as there is in 2011. More, in fact. They had to fight a World War. We just have a lot of debt. Big fucking deal.

@Alrune: They're not any more or less secret than any other restricted membership groups.

Lots of groups exist and hold meetings that aren't open to the public (or even announced to the public). I belong to three such groups myself. But it's a huge leap from "exists and holds private meetings" to "is trying to rule the world".

The thread is derailing.

I've had the answer to my original question so I think I'm done here anyway. Thanks for everything, anyone who posted.

It only looks like it's asleep...

Seriously, there are people who are firmly convinced that the metric system is part of some nefarious plot to create a one-world government, or that the government puts fluoride in the water to make the population more tractable. They look for an evil conspiracy in anything.

I don't think that you should look for the end of the world with people. People are too stupid to bring about the end of the world on their own. It is technology that will cause our fall—granted, of our own making, but more because it will be technology taken out of its intended context.

Anyway, yeah, not much to add it seems.
