I was thinking what could be the main plot that could drive the story and what villian could I use to drive it.

My characters would be the Cinderella figure, the stepmother of course(she would be a good version of Lady Tremaine),and the ugly stepsisters(who fight with each other but have hearts of gold).

This story would be instead of having an evil step family, what if the protagnist of a fairy tale had a good, loving stepfamily.I need something else that could be used to propel the story and also the stepmother but it will be revealed later to the protagonist later.

When you think about it, the entire plot of Cinderella was driven by the title character's misery with her stepfamily.

Perhaps you could do something new with the fairy godmother and/or the royal family.

I was thinking that the Cinderella character and her stepfamily would be driven into being commoners after the protaganist's father's death. There wouldn't be a fairty godmother in this story since it would be taken by her stepmother who is a fairy.I was thinking that there should be a prince in this story but he ends up with one of the stepsisters.I also think that the Cinderella character should end up with a Romani character while the last stepsister marries someone of low class but is happy.

I was thinking that the villian could be another fairy or a wish who is evil.

But without the fairy godmother giving out a princess dress, why would the prince marry the stepsister, especially if she comes from a commoner family? That just... didn't happen in that day!

I just has an idea how about make the prince character evil and have an evil godmother that spoils him.He would force a ball to find a wife and gets married to that girl. However,if he gets bored of said wife he disposes of her and starts again. So,yes I would make the prince a tyrant and uses the evil godmother's magic to back up his reign of evil. The evil godmother hides her mystical nature well and is a bitch in sheep's clothing.I think also we should give him a younger brother that was kicked out and now lives on the street and falls in love with one of the stepsisters.

I dunno.

Exactly what demographic are you shooting for? 8-12-year-olds?

I was thinking the elementary and middle school crowd.Yeah,I was thinking that girls would like something a little different.I think this story would be in the vein of Ella Enchanted but has the the stepfamily be good.smile

I read in this one writing book how a class rewrote Cinderella but added an internal conflict for Cinderella: That she doesn't think she deserves love from the prince. Perhaps you could use that in your story?

And you don't seem familiar. Are you new in this sub-forum, or am I mistaken? That username looks familiar but...

I am jazzflower on my personal computer but on my laptop I am joyflower. So,you might have seen me because I was under a different name.

Also I was thinking of creating two prince characters;one is the older evil one who trys to marry the Cinderella character and the other is a younger good one who falls in love with one of the stepsisters.

Her true love interest is a Romani guy who lives on the street.I wanted to make the prince evil because to make a kinda of inversion on the usual tale.Instead the Cinderella chracter would be in risk of getting married to a Gaston like prince.

The stepmother is stern but she is very protective of both her daughters and her stepdaughter. She would also still be magical but she has been depowered to a extent. So,that makes both stepsisters half fairy and they will later display magic later on.
