It has been four days and this has been drifting increasingly negative. I'm going to call this crowner. Is there anything else that needs to be done?
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickConsidering it got 9 (out of 28 total) votes in the past 24 hours, this crowner is not what I would call "stable" yet.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight! It's been four days. It's never been far from negative. The number of votes may have changed but the ratio never headed anywhere but down. I watched it. The ratio stabilized. The ratio is what we're after.

Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickSo what makes the difference on whether we choose to rename tropes based on being work-derivative? We renamed The Libby, despite it being a very well-established trope that (as I recall) didn't have a lot of misuse. Why rename that one, but not this one?
Because this one lost the crowner and that one won it's crowner. Renaming can come up again in a few months. If people are just going to keep arguing it, I'm going to lock this thread. Are there any other matters besides a rename?
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickAs I recall, the crowner to rename The Libby was in the negative while it was limited to TRS regulars; then somebody advertised it in a more public place, and the crowner rapidly shot to positive.

Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Nope. It was always positive. The ratio just improved when it was advertised.
The Libby was always positive. It just wasn't quite past the tipping point. This one has been consistently tied and or negative. I've watched it.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickWell, to be fair "The Libby" is completely non-indicative, and this name at least tells you something about the trope.
Okay, go ahead and close, we've got 999 other tropes to repair :)
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!
