OH CHRIST WHERE IS THE BRAIN BLEACH?!
I am now known as Flyboy.Pykrete's right; shall we focus on the topic at hand?
Certainly, power has its own appeal; I for one find driven women who succeed at what they do to be respectable at the least. Whether or not they're sexy depends on a whole other set of guidelines, most of which are personal and arbitrary. Yay chemistry.
My rule on people giving me orders remains the same. There are three; she who birthed me, them that pay me and she who screws me. All others get to make requests.
If I were to write some of the strange things that come under my eyes they would not be believed. ~Cora M. Strayer~@USAF: they only get to give me orders while they're screwing me....oh wait. Nevermind, I guess the total can rise.
Anyhow...The point to that joke was; establish limits. There's nothing wrong with being willing to take an order, just establish who can give them and why.
If I were to write some of the strange things that come under my eyes they would not be believed. ~Cora M. Strayer~I thought you were Dom, Drunky.
"All pain is a punishment, and every punishment is inflicted for love as much as for justice." — Joseph De Maistre.@Leigh: I am. I'm also joking around.
If I were to write some of the strange things that come under my eyes they would not be believed. ~Cora M. Strayer~What I was trying to bring up earlier is that this seems to be a female thing rather than a male thing, and I was afraid this would primarily be a thread where men talked to other men about how they weren't attracted to powerful women. (Though I don't know how well it applies to the gay community, and for that matter, I have no idea whether it can be blamed on modern society.)
That's Feo . . . He's a disgusting, mysoginistic, paedophilic asshat who moonlights as a shitty writer—Something AwfulI don't know if this is the kind of power that joyflower was talking about, but I do generally find a woman more attractive if I see her doing something impressive, whether it's, say, being really good at video editing, doing some really good dance moves, or even just lifting something really heavy.
Self-confidence is sexy to me. I like women who don't let themselves be pushed around, but aren't necessarily assertive. It's a power all its own in social arenas.
Call it romantic, but I think we are attracted to people who inspire us to improve ourselves. If you see the opposite sex being amibitious or trying new things, there's something kind of poetical about it. Of course, since humans are humans everyone fears they're not 'good enough' for their object of affection.
I'm a skeptical squirrel@ Barkley
But...not letting yourself be pushed around and not aggressively dominating others is assertiveness...
For me, yeah, power is sexy...when it is physical and mental power (as in fighting ability, athletic ability...especially physical strength and to a lesser degree...speed and flexibility/agility; weapon usage capabilities, intelligence, confidence and ability to manipulate others). I don't really care too much about money, but that may because I myself have a lot due to my family.
I find it interesting that I like physical and mental power, as I can be assertive or passive, but when I fight or do anything I'm interested in...I become pretty dominant and even near-aggressive in some cases. Plus, when younger, I didn't really like power in others (I didn't hate it either though) until I started training myself to get what I believe to be power. I'm not sure what that all means... :P

I totally hate my avatar. Just saying.
No amount of power or status or even alcohol would make Margaret Thatcher sexy.
