Alright, beat the game! The final boss was horribly tedious, but the ending more than made up for that.

However, I'm kinda confused. Where, exactly, is it explained why the MC died? Did I miss something? It kind of came out of nowhere...

It's only explained in the Answer. Hell, before FES came out, his fate was pretty ambiguous.

Ah, alright. I guess I need to watch an LP of The Answer now.

The Answer explains it mostly. Basically he used up all of his life creating the Great Seal between Nyx and humanity/Erebus, and his mind and body managed to live to Graduation Day running on sheer willpower alone.

The Answer goes into more detail than that, but I think you said you weren't going to play it?

EDIT:Should I have not said that? I'll remove it if you don't want to be spoiled. Sorry.

Well given that using the great seal requires you to use all your HP, and that the MC "falls asleep" at the end, it's pretty obvious that s/he died. Though The Answer just flat out tells you. Also the song at the end makes it obvious that the MC died, but for some reason they didn't translate it. Said song confirmed that the MC died long before FES was even in development, it wasn't ambiguous.

Here's a screenshot LP of The Answer. It might be more bearable than watching one anyway. And there's vids of the important stuff if you're that concerned.

I'm not really interested in playing it, mostly because that would involve buying a copy of FES. I'd still rather not be spoiled. Anyway, no harm done, I only saw the post after you applied the tags.

@Mario

Thanks for the link!

Late, but my final party was Minato, Yukari, Akihiko, and Aigis.

So what was everyone's favorite S. Links? I'm partial to Aigis' and Mutatsu's, and Tanaka's business tactics never fail to make me laugh.

Tanaka, the monk, the old couple, and Aigis, though I am usually unable to finish Aeon for some reason or another (mostly because I am trying to finish up another one at the same time)

Dishonorable mention to the Star social link. I swear, they intentionally made that one the most boring, less gripping one of the bunch to discourage you from getting Lucifer/Helel, and thus Armaggedon.

Hm...

The monk, Maya, that one 2nd grade girl, Yuko, Aigis, the bookstore couple...

Really, I loved all of the social links. The star's the Rival Athlete, right? I liked him... sad

Anyway, the New Game Plus is hilariously broken. I can't wait to get access to the compendium. FEAR ME, LEVEL ONE MOOKS! I SHALL NUKE YOU WITH SURT, MASTER OF FIRE! [lol]

...Wait, if you have a social-link persona in your compendium, do you still need to have the corresponding arcana maxed in order to summon it? It might be a good idea to start from scratch, anyway, so I can capitalize on inherited skills...

By the way, what's up with the weird writing on the Home Ec home? I mean, what's the point in requiring you to have enough Intelligence to read it if it doesn't lead to anything?

New Game Plus carries over the items you get at the end of the social links, so you can summon/fuse the best Personas from the compendium right off the bat (more likely to summon than fuse though.), though you won't get the EXP boost from the Social Link unless you max it again.

The writing/Home Ec leads to the Temperance Social Link, but only if you got so far in Hierophant. I forgot about Bebe! He is one of my favorites too.

Ah, thanks. Bebe was pretty cool. I didn't realize that the Home Ec code unlocked his social link.

I had figured that it was time sensitive or something, hence the "I'm not here anymore".

Only Surt? I've been fighting everybody off with Lv.90+ Personae. If I had the links, I'd be able to fuse almost anything, I think. There are a few of Elizabeth's rewards I haven't gotten yet, so those are missing.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and I think my favorite links were Maiko (Hanged Man/kid at the shrine) and Aigis. There were a few links I never got very far into though, or didn't even start at all. :/

@Sabbo

Yup. Dude lasted me through the final boss as soon as I fused him. Of course, I had other personaes to cover other elements, but he could do the most damage.

@Beta

I was half expecting that to lead into a social link for Ms. Toriyumi. The ending was funny as it is, though.

Surt is an awesome Persona. 'Ragnarok spam like a boss' was pretty much what my MC did all throughout the final boss.

Ragnarok just really isn't worth it, in my opinion. Sure, it's cool, but it doesn't really do much more damage than Agidyne, and it costs twice as much!

...The only of the "ultimate" spells I actually tried to get and use with any frequency was Thunder Reign on Odin. If I can get the others, I'll use them, but Thunder Reign is the only one that really gets me results.

Well, there is also Die For Me, but woo spell that doesn't work against bosses.

My favorite S.Link is unquestionably the FemPC's Moon link. That Sandalphon is an awesome Persona is just icing, really.

The female PC's Chariot and Hermit links are also among my favorites. Rio is adorable, and the climactic scene of Saori's link is awesome. Of the links available to both PCs, I like Mutatsu and Akinari the best.

Man, Theo's dates are hilarious.

It's a nice touch that the female route changes some of the music, (I'M NOT A PRINCESS~) but I kind of miss BABY BABY BABY BABY BABY

Starting to play this game via emulator. Really interesting so far: what's the easiest first Social Link to get? I'm a newbie to the Persona games (having watched the P4 anime), so just curious.

The social links will generally come at you one by one, and the first ones you'll get are the storyline (and thus ignorable) Fool link, and Magician (which you'll automatically get the first level for, but you'll have to do the rest yourself. Emperor is also rather early, as are Chariot and Hierophant.
