Because there isn't enough theorycrafting on this board and the China vs US thread being derailed.

I don't think either of these would attack each other unless one of the following nations got involved: Russia, the US and the EU. When I say involved. I mean one of them actually attacked China.

Well the EU isn't going to happen, its a world away.

EDIT: Must stop using "we".

Russia and the US will help, but the EU will have collapsed by then.

And why would the EU have collapsed by then?

Indian monkeys would sabotage all your industry as Chinese spies steal all your secrets.

But in more seriousness, how does China and India actually GET at each other? There's a big ass mountain range that's in the way.

You have to find a way to take control of the passes through those mountains. And that requires a bloodbath for the side who is attacking unless they already control said passes.

Switzerland has never been successfully invaded for a reason.

It just seems fairly impossible, it'd be a definite kill zone the likes of which can only described as Switzerland except across a large swath of land.

India vs. China? What do you think Pakistan is there for? They get more sweetheart deals on Chinese weaponry than the North Koreans do.

True.

After all, the Pakistani Air Force co-developed the JF-17 with the Chinese, and use Chinese ZDK-03 AWACS aircraft.

Bah, India vs China at least offers a challenge. India vs Pakistan... not so much. India has quality AND quantity against Pakistan, in almost all forces (navy, with a carrier being built as we speak and three other planned, air force, with tons of Su-35 MKI and either Rafales or Typhoons, same for ground forces). So that's why China vs India is more interesting, IMHO.

Thing is, you can't have a war between China and India without considering Pakistan.

On the other hand, I doubt Russia is just going to sit there and let India get annexed.

[up]Oh, OK. Indeed, if there's a war, it will obviously be on two fronts, at least. Probably a defensive war against China, to prevent territory gains during the time needed to crush Pakistan once and for all. After that, if India managed to hold the line against China, I'd guess Beijing won't push its luck too far. The question is, IMO: "will Pakistan start a nuke war?" If not, well, I don't really think China would manage to annex India, and even then, if it gets too hot, Russia would probably start rattling sabers, as well as EU and the US.

If I had my word to say in the Indian leadership, I'd try to get the North Korean leadership killed or to make their state crumble during the war itself. That way, China would be forced to move a lot of troops to stop millions of refugees and protect its borders against South Korean and US troops moving to Pyongyang. The relations between China and the US would be much more tense that way, and I could hope to get some support from Washington to piss off Beijing.

Another "country vs. country" thread? OTC is starting to look those "Who Would Win?" threads from the anime/manga forum.

Anyways, I'm curious as to India's naval power. I suspect that China could pwn them on the seas.

Another point of interest: what's this mean for Sri Lanka and Bangladesh?

Share it so that people can get into this conversation, 'cause we're not the only ones who think like this.

Those aren't full-blown carriers, but rather Harrier-carriers, so don't expect that much of a Curbstomp Battle (the next one will host Mi G-29K, which is much more dangerous, but still not in the same category as Super Hornets or Rafales). Furthermore, carriers can be countered with subs, and Pakistan managed, a few years ago, during one of their wars, to block the Indian carrier in its harbour, only with the presence of one of their subs. And China has a lot of subs, their navy being an interdiction one rather than a projection one.

Yeah, but India has their own indigenously-built class of boomer subs in addition to their attack subs. And as for the carrier's fighter wing, they're sending out requests to Boeing and Dassault to compete with navalized versions of the Rafale and the F-18, for use on the carriers they're building right now.

China plans on building carriers that will carry the Su-33. Probably not alot of them, but impressive enough.

Sri Lanka and Bangladesh probably try to stay neutral, but their to dependent on India and India is a lot closer. I think they will end up in India sphere.

what will happen in Burma / Myanmar will be interesting. even now several minority army/rebel is rumored to have contact with India and China.

i don't think War between India and China will be big, what will happen is :

  • proxy war in Burma
  • India - Pakistan War
  • more overt India support for Tibetan rebel
  • small scale China-India border war with elite mountain troop, the terrain is too difficult for large scale army movement.

You are right about Bangladesh, but Sri Lanka is more pro-Chinese. At best it would be neutral, but more likely it will prove to be a diplomatic/clandestine thorn in India's side. The leadership in Columbo is scary.

Well, technically, India vs China did happen before. Though it was fairly small-scale.

I've seen worse. At any rate India would win because they get gear from Russia and the US.

Plus their food is tastier.

[up][up] I suppose, kittens must die for this transgression.

[up] Any serious fight India may have with China is gonna be hella bloodly. Thus, there's always the possibility of Pakistan jumping on them.

Necro wasn't bad though. Chinese soldiers did go inside Indian territory this month and apparently planted a "Get out of China" (obviously aimed at the Indian soldiers) billboard or something. lol

I'm reading this because it's interesting. I think. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, over.
