My intent was Trope A for non-game show examples (stage magicians and otherwise), Trope B for the game show specific subtrope.
There are more stage magician acts with a lovely assistant than game shows. So if you're splitting for the numbers, then stage magician gets split off as well.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Fine by me. If there are numerous genre-specific examples, I see no reason not to split. One trope for "assistants in general", one for magician ones, one for game show ones.
Now, we just need, ya know, NAMES for the damn things. I would suggest Game Show Assistant for the "Vanna" types, since there have been a few male ones (for instance, the announcer on Lets Make A Deal often models the prizes as well, even though the show has more traditional "Vanna" type models too).
Anyone up for getting this in motion?
The page is not going to be that big. The YKTTW is up-to-date with its Rolling Updates, and it's only 55 lines long. Splitting for the numbers looks totally unnecessary to me.
Do we need a crowner?
132 is the rudest number.Yes. Because right now, no one's doing anything.
The Crowner would be to split off the Game Show Lovely Assistant (and Stage Magician ) from the larger Lovely Assistant trope. The only action that needed to be taken before locking this thread was to launch the ykttw.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Lovely Assistant already had 4 hats, so I gave it its last hat and launched it. There are less than two dozen bullet points in the game show folder. I see absolutly no reason to split that off to be its own trope.
Is there any objection to simply making The Vanna a redirect to Lovely Assistant, and moving on to the wick migration phase?

Go for it.
Yeah, unwritten rule number one: follow all the unwritten procedures. - CamacanSeeing no objection, The Vanna is now a redirect for Lovely Assistant. The wicks still need to be migrated and Lovely Assistant could use some cross wicking.
Why is migrating the wicks not equivalent to crosswicking it?

You still haven't addressed the issue of what's left after splitting off Stage Magician assistants and Game Show assistants from Lovely Assistant. Is there enough left of the trope after that?
The point of expanding The Vanna was that a lovely young woman assisting a male host is not specific to game shows, and it evolved from stage magic in the first place. So the trope was sent to ykttw as Lovely Assistant to collect more non-game show examples. If you're advocating we split it again, then you should show a reason to support that other than "the trope looks like there is a game show-specific version".
Show why it is a good idea to undo part of the work that this thread has accomplished.
