So I'm almost done with the first draft of my story. Would any of my fellow writers like to read through it for me and give a little feedback? Writers only, obviously. And not disclosing what my story is is necessary.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaI'll show you mine if you show me yours.*

Make your hearth shine through the darkest night; let it transform hate into kindness, evil into justice, and loneliness into love.Yay, thanks! (And I will feedback you too, Death, promise.) Still not done yet, but I'll PM y'alls when it is.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaSorry guys, but I don't think I will be having the time to do any judging. But do your best and have fun!
I can't figure out how to start my story, and the writer's block is killing me...
I am now known as Flyboy. You've got to have at least one sentence figured out, right?
It doesn't matter which sentence, just write it.

Look, you can't make me speak in a logical, coherent, intelligent bananna. If Parable's out, we're down to 2-maybe-3 judges. Anyone else in?
I can try to judge again, but I'm not sure if I was good at it the last time.
One question do subtitles count towards the word count?
Make your hearth shine through the darkest night; let it transform hate into kindness, evil into justice, and loneliness into love.As far as I'm concerned, no.
Thats great, my work will be more comprehensible that way.
If my story doesnt suco this time. I think I will volunteer for judge next contest
Make your hearth shine through the darkest night; let it transform hate into kindness, evil into justice, and loneliness into love.<- Notices post about being short judges
<- Considers judging the contest
<- Remembers that he's an entrant
<- Decides it's time to go to bed
Look, you can't make me speak in a logical, coherent, intelligent bananna.Oh man, I hope I can finish my entry in time. My computer has just gone kaput. Luckily I foresaw this and backed up everything shortly before the kaputing, but getting typing time on the family computer (no, not that family computer) will be tough.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaRewriting what I've got in order to deal with some problems. I'm currently trying something that I've never seen done before, and there's a decent chance it will be a disaster, but I'll give it my best shot.
That's Feo . . . He's a disgusting, mysoginistic, paedophilic asshat who moonlights as a shitty writer—Something AwfulI'm still ready to judge.
And first draft done!
Now for feedback and tweaking.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaJust finished it. This makes it my first contest in which I did not submit the work at the very last day of the deadline. Yay.
(Though I might add a small part that I have in mind later. But probably not.)
So much I want to tell and so little words we can use . I have 2 thousand so far!.
I have read frezair's story and it's very cool I am sure it will be very well received!

Make your hearth shine through the darkest night; let it transform hate into kindness, evil into justice, and loneliness into love.Just remember, lips sealed! Don't want to compromise judging and all.

I'm going for a certain style, and it's very difficult to emulate (what I think is) it...
I am now known as Flyboy.Blarg!
It's all down to if I can revise this, before the deadline, into something that isn't New Shame. Not sure if I'm going to make it. Where would be the best place here to ask for a beta read-through once (if) this sucka is ready?
Just ask if a fellow contestant is willing to read. I did, and it's worked great for me so far.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaWhen's the deadline?
Try to get a story in from one theme, and then do your best to get another theme in. I did that with my story, and managed to get three themes without much trouble.
Say, have an alternate history where magic is widely used. Halfway or two-thirds through, use "The House on Maple Street" from the Harris Burdick collection to turn it into sci-fi. Three themes right there. (You can use that, by the way; it's not my story).
