Yes, I object. The one you're suggesting is no better at indicating that they're exiles than the current one.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Five people in raggity clothes in the middle of a desert is the same as a man who looks like a noble overlooking a cliff? I think there is a clear difference.
Until death do we partIt's an improvement, but not by much. For some reason, I think this scene◊ is better.
This implies, quite correctly, that my mind is dark and damp and full of tiny translucent fish. You say Napoleon doesn't look like an exile. I say your guys don't look like exiles. There's nothing in your picture to indicate that they are exiled, since "exile" doesn't mean raggedy and stumbling through the desert. It means "forbidden to return to a particular place." An exile isn't necessarily destitute; exiles can live quite comfortably, as long as they don't try to go back to the place they're exiled from.
^ Nothing in that one to indicate exile either.
Here's the heart of the trope: "Bob's been caught committing a crime, caused too much property damage, or pissed the wrong people off. As punishment, he's forced to leave his city, state, or country, and never come back,"
Everything else, about the mark of shame, about "effectively a death sentence", those are all optional.

Clock is ticking.
Clock's up; locking for inactivity/lack of consensus. No action is to be taken based on this thread.
From the Discussion Page: Although I do want to change the image to the The Wanderers◊ Home Stuck album cover, we don't necessarily need the change, although the current one (the one of Napoleon)does remind me more of someone overlooking a cliff, thinking deeply, than an exile, even though I don't do the research, nor see the reason for doing it. Any objections to the change?
