Add "leave imageless". I don't think any of the images show the whole meaning of the trope, nor that there is one that can.
There are no heroes left in Man.Okay, made one and hollering to hook it up
"I have a problem with the Batman/Superman image, and it's that appart from wearing costumes the sons aren't "repeating the life of their parents". We can't get the whole meaning of the trope with that image. "
Really? Really? The fact that they're wearing costumes in no way suggests to you that they might be, oh, living the lives of Superman and Batman? Do we really need to take the Viewers Are Morons principle that far?
And, oh, what a surprise to see such an argument marshalled against a Western Comics example! I don't see how you can get much clearer than the Super Sons image (the Gunnerkrigg one certainly isn't), and applying something like the quoted would-be standard would result in nearly all pages being imageless.
Jet-a-Reeno!Is the super-sons thing even canon? I know superman has a clone, but...
"You fail to grasp the basic principles of mad science. Common sense would be cheating." - NarbonicIt was an alternate future thing, basically. And also was written by Bob Haney, whose "real" stuff only had a vague relationship to continuity of any sort....
Jet-a-Reeno!Well, I think it's a good picture, but I don't think the Gunnerkrigg one is as unclear as you think. That's why there's crowners, so individual bias is hopefully cancelled out.
"You fail to grasp the basic principles of mad science. Common sense would be cheating." - NarbonicI don't get the Gunnerkrig court one. The similar facial structures/different hair styles in each picture really don't help.

Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.I thought the difference in the eyes between the brunette girl in the last one and the brunette woman in the first one established them as mother and daughter in the middle slot (the pink-haired ones ARE basically identical, it's a plot point), but if it's really that confusing to those not familiar with the comic, I'm switching my vote to the supersons. At least that one is concise.
"You fail to grasp the basic principles of mad science. Common sense would be cheating." - NarbonicNow I see what you're talking about. I was just confused because I thought the thin eyes were just the woman closing them.
It's a better fit now that I know what's happening; at least it doesn't give the image of parents egging on their children, which isn't part of the trope.
I'm just worried because I at first thought that I was looking at a scene depicting the same people in all three panels (With the second one including their kids).

Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.Hmmm...so if I find a different image of the brunette mom and daughter...?

Woah! Turn down the insults, man. Don't want this to become a flame war, now.

Always hiding my keys in the bug bucket, you bastard dog.The overreaction to my comment wasn't needed too, and there it is. I'm editing that, but just because you're right, flames aren't needed.
EDIT: well, I guess I'm not gonna have to edit it anymore.

There are no heroes left in Man.The 4-panel GC pic is great.
Bump for votes, the two in the green are almost deadlocked ratio-wise.
Batman & Superman is way better. It's both clearer and more visually appealing. (That panel rearrangement with the cropping is pretty ugly.)
Rhymes with "Protracted."^And I have exactly opposite opinion.
Plus, Supersons feel as if fathers forced the sons into it, while GC feels (and IS) as it happened by itself.
The GC one doesn't work for me either.
Support Gravitaz on Kickstarter! The supersons one doesn't work because it does not illustrate the trope. The trope is ultimately about the character relationships. Similarity in appearances is merely a shortcut to demonstrate familial relationships for the purpose of illustration. In the supersons picture, we have the parents in the background in a heated argument demonstrating their rivalry. In the foreground, the kids do not demonstrate such a rivalry. Thus, the picture actively demonstrates against what the substance of the trope is for a visual shortcut to show that the two sets are of different generations.
I would much prefer that the picture demonstrates clearly that the generation has copied the character dynamics and infer the familial relationship from similarities in appearance rather than have the picture demonstrate clearly the familial relationship and infer the character dynamics.

Yeah, as is, I don't really care for either pic, changing my vote towards it being picture-less.
Support Gravitaz on Kickstarter!Alright, this crowner's pretty much dead. Locking up; the page will be tagged to reflect that we didn't decide on a pic.

Eh, I still like the Batman and Superman one better.
