I haven't exactly seen much evidence of the Lone Ranger having strange powers as of yet.

I just assumed it was the Ranger surviving by pure luck and Tonto simply interpreting what he saw. We have no reason so far to actually believe that he has supernatural powers, so why in the heck are we taking the line at face value?

I read on io9 that apparently the original Lone Ranger was introduced with some description to that effect (although no supernatural powers).

I had read that Tonto (and his tribe) viewed the Ranger's survival of his inciting incident as proof that he'd been singled out by fate. Pretty much the "your survival is not an accident" kind of thing. Whether thay want to say that sets him on a spirit quest or makes him a supernatural entity (I hope not the latter one) I suppose is up to how they want to play it.

Considering how infamously mind-screwy POTC became, it could go either way. But who knows, maybe they've learned their lesson. I just keep reminding myself that Rango was good.

As long as this doesn't end up like the Wild Wild West movie *shudder*, I'll be happy.

New trailer on Yahoo and some story details that expose the supernatural stuff is still in. Instead of werewolves like those early scripts, it's an out of place Wendigo and the reason that the Lone Ranger uses silver bullets is so he can kill it.

Oh godammit.

All the trailers made it look like a simple Western, but a wendigo is in it?

Seriously?

Well, in fairness it's Tonto who thinks it's a wendigo. Doesn't necessarily mean it is one.

I'm curious to see how this works out.

[up]Footage they showed at Cinema Con had a scene with the Wendigo's lingering influence on the area turning bunnies into horrifying sharptoothed monsters

Well, when it comes to the portrayal of monsters in major films, a wendigo is something we more or less have yet to see. So there's that.

If you guys know of any wendigo movies, do mention them.

This looks like it could very easily turn out to be another Jonah Hex or Cowboys and Aliens. Hell, Cowboys and Aliens had arguably a much better cast and it still was a turd. Only it'll be more racist.

Seriously, has Disney ever fielded a movie which had a culturally sensitive portrayal of Native Americans? Ever?
