There's this story I plan on writing called The Codex of Creation.

I have plenty of ideas, and I want to actually write the story and show it to the world.

There's just one problem. I hate writing. Frequently, I find myself pretty much unable to write anything more than a page and a half long without practically passing out from exhaustion. Any sort of essay I encounter in college is more work for me than all my other assignments that day combined.

Hell, just writing down all my ideas on the trope and character pages pretty much sucked out all the will I have to write.

So, really, I'm stuck with a rather frustrating dilemma. I can take the easy way out and let the ideas die, which is quite painful for me; my wish is to give each main character a life of his/her own.

I could just start writing and continue working to make my story come to life, but I really don't know if I have it in me to finish what I start...

Try and write a certain amount a day.

Like...I dunno, if you want to start small, 100 words a day.

Read my stories!

Well, first of all, academic writing is much different from narrative fiction writing, so if you find essays hard, it doesn't necessarily mean you're bad at writing. You might not want to do a history degree, though.

When you start out writing fiction, it's really tough because you haven't quite developed your own personal style of writing. It's like drawing for the first time— you start out with shaky stick figures, and get better as you practice. It will take time and effort and yes, you will get frustrated, but if you want to write, you've got to do it.

If you think you've practiced enough and you still really hate writing, frankly, you should rethink writing as a hobby. You have to enjoy it to do it in your spare time. Again, it's not going to be easy, but it at least has to be a little fun.

If you're super dead set on having a story but also super dead set on not writing, you might get lucky enough to find a co-author willing to do the brunt of the creative writing for you. That's highly unlikely, though— if you can't be bothered to work for your own idea, no one else will want to, either.

Thanks for the all fish!

I think it's really simple.

If you hate writing, you might want to find a different hobby besides writing.

[up] You might consider another hobby ... or using a different channel for your creative urges. What about a webcomic or animation? Flash is easier all the time to use. Draw a few characters and backgrounds, record some audio, and you've got a cartoon.

I am going to second what AHR and Ronka87 said on the subject: As someone who knows all too well, academic writing is a whole lot less comfortable than the creative kind. Which is not to say that writing a story is any kind of easy, but it is certainly less harshly formal. There is also the removed element of enforced time restraints, meaning that you can take as much time working things out as you want or need, writing as much or as little as you want.

I say start small and proceed from there.

I'll hide your name inside a word and paint your eyes with false perception.
