While I'd be overjoyed to see Troper Tales go, is that actually a realistic possibility? The crowner shows a large vote in favor, but the previous times this has come up, I remember the idea being vetoed by Word Of Mod. So I'm asking as an open question to the mods and especially Fast Eddie: if the majority of tropers want Troper Tales cut, will it actually be cut?

Bobby G approves. Surely he knows that it can at least happen.

I guess it would only be fair to put in the headlines...

I can't speak for Eddie. If he decided to veto any decision made here, there's nothing I or anyone else could do about it, but I don't think he will given that some very strong arguments have been made here by tropers and for the moment, at least, the support for a cut is overwhelming.

It wasn't vetoed before, there was simply no consensus to cut. That may end up being what happens here, but we'll see.

There's been a perception, in the past, that this was sufficiently controversial that this thread might have been dismissed as trolling, but here we have numerous regulars making arguments in favour of a cut. Change can happen. At one point we thought there was no point in trying to rename Nakama.

Moving it off site is fine, so long as it's not hosted by TV Tropes. If other people want to host it ala IJBM, more power to them. But I do not believe TV Tropes should in any way, shape, or form put their name on the new site, let alone pay for it.

I'm all for moving it so long as it keeps its distance from the actual site.

Support. Cutting Troper Tales is something I've felt would be better for a long time, as the section in general does far more harm than good to the site as a whole. It's been shown that moderation doesn't really help, and it's eating up server space for what is essentially circlejerking.

But yeah, there should probably be a headline if we're actually considering this.

“Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?”

Would someone please make that option specifically. Ie Move Troper Tales Offsite including the Archives.

That might swing some of the more unsure or stubborn while at the same time giving those an option who want TT have an option for it.

My personal preference is deletition of the TT and it's archives. But if by giving another option others will be content to let it go I would be willing to endorse such an option.

I still say that the majority of Troper Tales pages are fairly harmless. Why yes, I have seen many of them. The harmless far outweighs the creepy.

I've cast my vote, but seeing as how the anti-TT movement is like a cult here, I doubt it'll make much difference.

Hardly a cult when the points made are perfectly valid. Some have even tolerated TT for a time.

So does voting down on the second option mean you disapprove of keeping TV Tropes as well?

The harmless TT may be the majority, but that's because of the heavy moderation.

and even then, the fact that creepy TT exists proves that it'd take more than we can offer to moderate it.

Even if it all the TT were completely harmless, It's taxing our resources

Take me, I tolerated Troper Tales for the longest time, even now, I think it would be easier to just ignore it.

But here's the thing, it's the cause of a lot of other problems, and is slowly turning into a symptom of a greater one. If we axe TT, we axe a good 2/3 of what's wrong with this place, and get it back to normal. At this point, normalcy is all I want.

The problem is that the harmless stuff doesn't excuse the dick-waving if the dick-waving is what gives us a less than stellar rep in the first place.

INT is knowing a tomato is a fruit. WIS is knowing it doesn't belong in a fruit salad. CHA is convincing people that it does.

The second option is filler.

It won't let me create a new option! Grr!

From the Troper Tales Guidelines:

These examples are here to help folks understand/appreciate the trope, so the Holy Triad of Clear, Concise, and Witty are key.

"Harmless" is not good enough. They aren't examples from media. If they don't help people understand the tropes, they're no use to anybody.

Voting down means you want Troper Tales kept up. Which one are you voting for "Yes", or "No"?

If you're voting up on Yes, that means it'll be gone. If you're voting down on it, that means you want it kept.

If you're voting on No, don't. It's irrelevant.

We get plenty of creepy entries on the main wiki and in the forums anyway, so I hardly see how that proves anything.

The entries on the main wiki are actually relevant to the main wiki's mission.

They should be cut when at all possible, but, unlike Troper Tales, you can't cut the main wiki.

I am not overly concerned about the reputation but we can certainly do without the e-peen contests. The larger concern for me is we have so many mods there attention much more well spent on fora and the Wiki proper then with babysitting TT. TT has proven time and again to continously attract trouble despite efforts to head the problems off.

Yeah I was trying to make a simple "don't touch it at all option."

I'm agreeing to this for a few reasons but the main one is I remember IJBM and all the drama that caused, and fetish fuel and how that all pretty much just disappeared when they were moved off-site. People will complain but if it really matters it'll take up space somewhere else.

Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?

@Odd1:Those are few and far between. Also the forum especially the left side is very pertinent to the mission of the wiki. Kind of funny considering your posting in the section called Wiki talk and all. The rest is to provide place for the community to form in the first place.
