I don't actually have the game, but that doesn't surprise me. If you're connecting to someone halfway across the planet, you're gonna have some latency.

My wife and I got ourselves a Switch and MK 8 Deluxe for Christmas and have been playing it pretty much non-stop since then. We've 3-starred all the 50CC cups and she's 1-starred a few of the 100CC cups. We're really enjoying the game, but I do miss the character-specific items from Double Dash, and it's incredibly frustrating when one small mistake puts you in a situation that you can't recover from.

Mario Kart Tour, Nintendo's next mobile game, will launch sometime next fiscal year.

I bet the next Mario Kart is going to have Pauline and Cappy as playable characters, and maybe some new NPCs from Odyssey like Tostarenans. A track based on the Sand Kingdom sounds amazing.

I just hope Plessie and Nabbit are playable too. I know everyone, including Nintendo themselves, are treating the Wii U like a joke, but I really liked it and I hope all the cool stuff it introduced isn't swept under the rug.

Plessie? The loch ness expy? I dunno how it could sit in the kart with its body shape.

Make Plessie a kart or bike

A kart based on the T-Rex from Odyssey is a must, if not a power-up that works the same as the Banzai Bill or the Mega Mushroom.

Can I drive around as Goombella? Perhaps as Mallow, I hope? How about Sami on a tank?

Which one was Sami from again?

Mallow ain't gonna happen because Square Enix.

Is it a fair point? Whether it's the real deal or a costume, Nintendo needed Square-Enix's permission to put Geno in the game. And they got it. I really doubt SE would let Nintendo have Geno but not Mallow. The question is, does Nintendo care about getting Mallow back?

As for the T. rex from Odyssey, it shouldn't be a vehicle. It should be a hazard! Imagine a battle arena based on the Cascade Kingdom where you're not only running from the other players, you're running from the T. rex! Maybe it's asleep until the last thirty seconds of the game, or until it gets hit with an item enough times.

And, Plessie can be shrunk down to fit in a kart. He (she?) would still be a heavyweight, though. I really like Plessie, okay?!

I'd much rather have Plessie be a playable character myself.

That's what I mean!

Also, what if Mario Kart 9 is a straight-up Smash-style Nintendo crossover? We already have Link, the Inklings, and some Animal Crossing characters in there; might as well go whole hog and add Samus, Kirby, Captain Falcon (because why not at this point, right?), and so on.

Would Samus be inside or outside her Power Suit? Also would there be a Bike based on Ridley, unless it'd be too big?

The Varia suit is her most iconic look, so I'd imagine Nintendo using that as her appearance. Once outside of it, she's just another blonde female in a form-fitting sci-fi jumpsuit.

Something I didn't think of: she'd have to drive one-handed, since her arm cannon doesn't turn into a hand like Mega Man's.

Samus's ships are autopilot anyway, considering Metroid Fusion's ending. She only needs to start it manually. This means she shouldn't know how to drive.

If karts are automatic transmission, it shouldn't be hard to drive with one hand on the steering wheel and the arm cannon operating the crank as needed.

Or maybe she'll take off the arm cannon...

Has there ever been a time where you were playing Mario Kart and thought to yourself, "This is great! But I wish I were controlling this using literal cardboard..."?

Huh I noticed that the camera view in the trailer is a lot closer to the character compared to the regular game.
