Who's down to write short stories?

I had an idea to create troper anthologies of short stories.

Long story short (pun intended), we get 10-15 people to write a short story, throw em up on a blog/website and let people read em/vote on the best ones. Can be a monthly thing.

I'd be interested in writing/editing. Anyone else interested?

If enough people are interested I'll flesh this idea out more. I'd be willing to host a website.

So it's like the Tv Tropes Writing Contests, except publicized?

Kinda. It's not a competition though.

I mean, unless there's an inordinate amount of people willing to write. In that case, I, or whoever else wishes to moderate/admin/edit/etc can choose the most promising 15 stories or something like that. Like I said it's speculation at this point.

Also, sounds like open judging.

Go ahead; people were agitating for the next writing contest a while back.

I'll join this too. Do they have a theme, or a setting?

I'll join. I really need to diversify my profolio.

I could give this a shot, but it might take a while for me to write it in between my other 427 projects.

My idea is not to have a theme. It's quite literally a "collection of troper tales."

[up]@Sheep, Yea, you do seem busy haha (and you sound like me now. This is what I meant by partitioning my time).

[up] Yeah... I think a lot of it is hanging around this forum too much. There's always someone looking for someone else to do something for/with them, and I've always been one for trying new things and such.

I'm vaguely interested, but I'm not sure what my incentive would be for attaching my work to the general "troper" name rather than attaching it to my specific name. I'm sufficiently arrogant to consider my writing better than the average writing on this forum, and I don't expect the "troper" name to pull in that many more people than I'd get if I just posted on Fictionpress.

There is no specific incentive.

Why not both?

On another note, I would like to read something of yours then tongue.

I'll wait and see how far you get with this. If you actually make a website, I might send in a story and see whether you like it.

Uhh... I'm interested, but that's a bit too public for me. I dunno, my current stance on this is maybe.

Yea seems there's enough interest. I'll put some more thought into it this week.

As of now the idea is to simple staple our stories together on a blog/website. Ima try to think of something flashier and more interesting. If anyone comes up with some ideas, by all means post em.

Edit: Cash prize anyone?

Putting this topic on the backburner for now, got something even bigger brewing.

Aw maaaaaan.

For reals, does anyone want to host the fifth writing contest? Because we're all itching for it and I don't think anyone wants me to host again (in any event, I promise not to enter).

I would, since I can still enter and I need practice organizing contests. I'm starting a writer's workshop sort of club at school this year.

[up][up]Wait, why wouldn't we want you to do it again? Aside from choosing the topic (which we chose democratically and had nothing to do with the hoster) that contest had basically no problems.

[up]Go for it.
