Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! I'm editing this OP and pinning it to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.

Costume-Test Montage where he walks out wearing it and Sam gives him a thumbs down.
Will they include the part where he trips over his cape on his first night of crime fighting? Or when he takes a new Captain America suit off some dead guy?

just to remind everyone how awesome The Winter Soldier is!
So apparently Cox said at Wizard World Chicago that Luke Cage is set around the same time as Daredevil season 2...to a degree that Rosaria Dawson has a cut in one scene in Daredevil because of something which happened in Luke Cage.
May I mention how excited I am about that notion? I can't wait to line-up the events of both shows....
That's an interesting idea. I wonder if that means Defenders is going to be before most of the phase 3 movies.
I think it would be a good idea to process a little bit more slowly with the Netflix shows...less of a danger to create contradictions.
New Luke Cage scene:
...new Defenders shows need to be coming out *all* the time. I know it's my own fault for binging through them so fast, and we're getting three in less than a year. And yet I still want more.
I think they could go for three a year (I really need something Marvel related for the summer).....but more would be problematic, I guess.
I wonder if Damage Control has a chance again now that Powerless has gotten delayed....
I wonder if Luke is going to get an actual costume of some kind, or at least start wearing some kind of armor or something. They seem to be turning "Luke goes heroing in his normal clothes and ruins them" into a Running Gag.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Since Luke apparently doesn't intend to wear a mask, it would be kind of pointless to wear a costume, wouldn't it? Jessica doesn't wear one either, after all.
I guess Luke will just have to get used to buying new shirts on a regular basis.
He didn't really have a costume in the comics, either. At most, you could say that his costume was a yellow shirt, blue pants, metal tiara, and chain belt.◊ Oh and metal bracelets. (We see him wearing the tiara and bracelets in the Luke Cage trailer after the experiment.) But these days, he never really wears a costume at all, just normal clothing.
Oh comic. Why can't TV show be as awesome and cheesy as you?
What Thor and Hulk were doing during Civil War.

lol! I am so glad that they are keeping their promise and release the stuff bit by bit.
Poor Daryl.
Insert joke about the drawer being worthy here.
Too funny.
To be fair, Luke Cage eventually found◊ modern-ish◊ get-ups◊.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."But now we know how the hammer decides who is worthy...you just need to cuddle it.
Hammers have feelings too. At least, super powerful magic hammers Anthony Hopkins has ensorcelled do.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."Amusingly, this made me realize that there are now three new heroes/potential Avengers that basically popped up out of nowhere while Thor was gone. I'd love if he's like "Uh, who the hel are those guys?" in Infinity War.
So someone posted a writeup of the additional Dr. Strange footage they aired at SDCC/Manila.
Still not too impressed personally, but hopefully it comes across with a direct viewing.
- sigh* too bad that there is still no Imax screen close to my location.
But I think it sounds good..some soft ribbing of stereotypes, and a really good sell of magic. I was really worried because of the writers they picked, but I guess at least the first act of the movie will be good.
x5 + x6: because of the costume◊ of course! Jessica Jones did a costume gag without ever using the name "Jewel."
