Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! I'm editing this OP and pinning it to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.

Say, what happens if Tony just grab the shield with one hand and fire the other hand's repulsion into Steve's face?
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.I wish we'd retire the term "peak human" because it basically translates to "Whatever the plot requires but we're still gonna pretend it's humanly possible."
Holding a helicopter in place while it's taking off is pretty ridiculous.
Of course, most people would mulch their bodies in the process... but still, impressive stuff.
Even THAT strength has limits, you know. And halting a helicopter is far above that level, even if you are a...uh, "peak human."

I recall Biscuit Olivia doing it.
Ok, who let Light Yagami in here? Then again, he did do an overhead flip and threw a motorcycle he was riding.
Hmm...not sure if those require around similar strength or not.

"It would be so clinched if Loki pulls a Heroic Sacrifice in the Infinity War, allowing The Avengers to win against Thanos. XD"
You mean, like what happened in Siege?
-shrugs- I don't read the comics so sure, why not.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Cap dropkicked that one guy so hard he flew across the air for a good while in the Civil War trailer.
That's pretty strong.
Yeah if you're not the Hulk that's what Marvel Cinematic Universe Super-Strength looks like.
One neat detail I noticed in the trailer is that it looks like Iron Man's helmet can now fully retract inside the armor.
I am wondering if they've run out of avenues to improve the armour in.
Iron Man still caught an SUV (w/ family inside) thrown at him.
Catching things seem a bit easier to film. I'm referring to punching things mostly.
Can Cap punch straight through a concrete wall?
Also, Tony's wearing his Power Armor. Which can obviously do a lot of things like carry heavy objects.
No, I don't get why you'd bring that up.
Iron Man casually does that in IM 1 (to reach a terrorist on the other side).

When did this turn into a "who's stronger" match?
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. That's not what this conversation is about, although I still don't actually know what nervmeister is getting at.
While wearing Power Armor.

"The skill and shield help a good deal but overall stat-wise, he's not that impressive for a meta."
Have you seen what MCU Cap can do?
He isn't peak human. He's super-human. Hell even in the trailer he was able to stop a helicopter from moving.
Also most of the hits Buck and Cap were dishing out on Iron Man were with the Vibranium Shield and Bucky's possibly Vibranium metal arm.
