I just wish:
- It didn't have such a stupid subtitle
- It just had a number.
I actually prefer it without a number.
Pretty sure the lack of number is there for a reason. It's the first movie being on this side of time travel and everything is all wonky. And it's a not-quite-remake of T2.
...I think it actually would have been better if they'd gone all-in with the name. Termynaytyr: Genysys or something.

That joke was shit enough when Cracked did it.
Ironically enough Back to the Future 2 was spot on when they made that joke about Jaws 16
Just so long as we don't have to see Arnold Monkeytits Schwarzenegger naked.
How about Terminator XP, Terminator Vista, Terminator 7 then 8?
This is it! The beating of a dead horse!
I sort of get the love for Ahhnold(sort of), I get it for Linda Hamilton but the internet seems rife with talk of Summer Glau, which I don't think I ever will.
That proposal about a Terminator being sent back in time to prevent the Terminator franchise sounds more enjoyable all of the sudden...that said, I do like that someone realized the time travel concept means a continuity reboot is not really necessary.
Matrix had this problem too. But calling your enemy "The Machines" is pretty silly when you're using "machines" to fight them. The horrors of war are no excuse for lack of creativity. We have a trope page full of examples.
You don't like Summer Glau?
With all the memes about women choosing a bear over a man, Hollywood might wanna get on an 'East of the Sun and West of the Moon' adaptationIn fairness to him I have never really seen her appeal either. She's not bad she's just never blown me away in anything.
"War without fire is like sausages without mustard." - Jean Juvénal des UrsinsI agree...I don't get the allure of her either. I would put her firmly in the "servicable" category, and actress which is a good pick for certain roles, but nothing more.
The trailor was pretty good. I never thought that someone could replace Linda Hamilton without me needed a lot of time to get used to it, but I am already used to the actress...that is for me reason alone to put this on my "maybe" list.
The truth is she is a good actress who has only really had roles in Cult Classics, which makes people obsess about her more because she otherwise wouldn't have that much attention. If she was headlining big hit movies on a regular basis her fandom would be more on par with the likes of Jennifer Lawrence, ie passionate but not obsessive.
As for this movie, it feels like a relatively novel idea but the Terminator franchise as a whole is just too scattershot for me to get excited about it. The problem is that they aren't really trying to find the next logical progression of the story but settling for aping the first two movies while trying to top them in stunts and pyrotechnics.
T3 was passable, if only because the launch of Judgement Day felt like the next logical step. The stunt work and action sequences were at the least comparable to the earlier installments as well note . Salvation failed because it had a convoluted plot next to uninventive action set pieces. I never really got into Sarah Conner Chronicles because, again, it was mostly aping the themes and action sequences of the first two films.
Emilia Clarke is so cute in this
"You can't change the world without getting your hands dirty."Y'know, if they really must keep the franchise alive, this isn't a half bad idea. Make this the next movie. Go all meta.
I thought that was this movie, actually.
Hey, I liked Terminator Salvation.
Well, there is one in every fandom....
-Liked it, too-
I didn't really like Summer Glau too much in Arrow. She's just not as appealing when she isn't playing someone batshit crazy.
I liked her in Firefly, and she was alright in the Sarah Connor Chronicles, though that was a stupid show.
I thought her charater was insane.
Terminator Salvation was the only Terminator film that was not about "There's no fate but what we make for ourselves." It was more about atonement and sacrifice than the other films.
Anyway, a new entry for Timey-Wimey Ball?
