No, because that makes it look like Captain Geographic. A proper picture would be a hero saying something patriotic.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Wait, Captain Geographic, Captain Patriotic, and Captain Ethnic are all separate tropes? Those seem to overlap a lot. Are there any Captain Geographic examples that aren't Captain Patriotic?
...the Comedian? I dunno. I don't see a point in having separate tropes.
Edit: It looks like the biggest difference between the example lists is Nuke, a villain. Who is still listed on Captain Patriotic as an aversion.

First key to interpreting a work: Things mean things.Try reading the descriptions.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.I did. Captain Geographic is "wears a flag". Captain Patriotic is "wears a flag and likes being on the 'good' side." I don't see these as significantly different tropes. It looks like the differences between the two are still listed on Captain Patriotic as aversions. Captain Ethnic looks more separate, I guess.
Edit: Sorry, I know I'm derailing the conversation here...I'll try taking it to TRS.

First key to interpreting a work: Things mean things.yeah I vote for any of the ones that aren't US centric.
"Captain Patriotic is "wears a flag and likes being on the 'good' side."
No. That trope does not require any visual indication of the hero's country. It's right there on the description.

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Hm. My reading of it was that Captain Patriotic does wear a flag unless he's somehow suspended or undercover. Let me try to sum up what I'm hearing from you:
Captain Geographic = Super Hero + Wearing a Flag on Your Head or a patriotic name
Captain Patriotic = Super Hero + Patriotic Fervor, whether or not he wears the flag
If this is the case, then are you saying the suggestions so far (including the current image) are JAFAAC? Or, at least, misleading in that they demonstrate Captain Geographic instead of Captain Patriotic?
First key to interpreting a work: Things mean things.Yes.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. Is the current pic bad enough quality to start a pull motion? I'd say yes, but this is really subjective.
I'm inclined just to go with one of the better Captain America pics.
Rhymes with "Protracted."I'm inclined to go with someone from a country that isn't America as there's a misconception that this trope only covers American superheroes.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickThat British guy is okay too.
Rhymes with "Protracted."This would need dialog where the hero is expressing this love for country.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.I don't think that's necessary. Patriotism can be communicated pretty well just by pose and posture in the presence of a flag.
Rhymes with "Protracted."But this is NOT patriotism alone. It's a bit more specific. See the description.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.I agree with 35, it isn't that bad of a pic (which is why it's still up I guess), but I also agree with 37. As for the dialog-in-the-image bit, I can see why it would help to show the trope, but I don't think it's mandatory to have some in the image. If nothing, we could always use the caption to improve that part.
"We are not a stuffy encyclopedic wiki. We're a buttload more informal".Clock is set. Even if we don't agree on a pic, I'm thinking the current one needs to go.
Seems like we have enough options for a crowner, right?
Rhymes with "Protracted."A picture of the Battle Fever J team might be a good option, as it covers a bunch of different countries and not just America. (Though, technically they're all Japanese, they just represent different countries.)
Clock's up; locking for inactivity/lack of consensus. No action is to be taken based on this thread.
Bump. I'm liking the collage idea.
