Explosion in Oslo - Car bomb?

BBC article doesn't mention it yet, but from other news sources it seems a car with multiple bombs was set off in front of the building.

How awful...Really though, I'm surprised this happened in Oslo. Mostly because you don't associate terrorist attacks with Norway.

AP is suspecting involvement by the Kurdish group Ansar al-Islam.

I think we should probably hold off on wild accusations for now. They'll confirm what the explosion was caused by, probably by the end of today.

Wow, considering the damage inflicted on the structure, I'm surprised at no reported fatalities.

Fucking radical Islam. What the hell do they have against Norway? They seem to congregate like a fucking virus in Norway/Sweden/Denmark.

Probably because those countries are much more open and relaxed than others; let's see what the news says.

2 dead confirmed, likely cause: massive car bomb.

Lots of speculation going down at the moment, lots of contradictory information and so forth, closest thing we've got to confirmed is two dead. Current theory is an attack on the oil and energy department, but the police is, unsurprisingly, tight-lipped.

Apparently, the BBC confirmed that someone set Oslo up the bomb, though I can't find a source.

Don't get worked up on something that probably isn't true. They laid blame of 9/11 on Palestinians almost immediately and blamed Oklahoma on muslims as well.

It looks more like a domestic grievance against oil/gas than it does anything else.

Also they don't congregate like 'a fucking virus' in those countries. When the US invaded Iraq and caused millions of refugees to appear, these were the countries that took in the most by far.

I'm not counting out Gadhafi (remember Lockerbie?), but terror groups are the most likely.

Meh, I was reading an issue of the magazine that Al Qaeda AP puts out, Inspire, and they were talking about some guy in Norway who they got to blow a few people up with a suicide bomb.(Pretty sure it was Norway)

Maybe you're thinking Sweden, where there was a suicide bomber and car bomb combined that managed to kill nobody but the bomber.

What kind of "domestic grievance" against the oil and gas ministry (which I've read it has been heavily damaged) is so big to prompt a bombing?

Now there's been a shooting at a youth camp of the prime minister's party. Seems a bit too focussed on a single political party to be al Qaeda...

From what I've heard, the bomb was outside the Prime Minister's office - and he had also been scheduled to visit the camp the shooting is at.

Whoever it is, they seem to have a grudge against the Norwegian PM.

Hm well I have no idea what to make of this now, but I guess they don't like the labour party?

This...this is absolutely horrible. First the bomb then the shootings at a youth camp. No one's come forth so we can't say with 100% confirmation that this was a terrorist attack, but as a Norwegian-American, I'm feeling the same way I felt during 9/11.

I just heard that Sky News is reporting "several" dead rather than 2.

Not sure this had anything to do with the other events.

To me, looking at the images, I am reminded of 9-11.

Seems more like Oklahoma City to me.

I heard on the radio there were seven dead confirmed and two seriously wounded.

Reuters says 2 dead from the bombing and 5 wounded at the camp.

This does seem fishily aimed at the PM. Who did he piss off?
