"Still, if we're talking about this kind of threat—" Raster's mind churned through the possible allies that might be there. "I don't know. I've heard the church groups talking about something like this. But if the Denarians are here I'm seriously going to consider moving."

He remembered the White Court vampires, his family members, moving and hitting with impossible speeds, Lord Raith's Entropy Curses, everything that he'd escaped from. And the Denarians sounded like they were an order of magnitude worse. What could they do?

Felix looked like he considered something before turning to Tim. "Alright, man, I'm not saying I want part of any of this, but I'll give you a hand." He took a deep breath, why was he doing this again? This was going to be a bad idea, but on the other hand, having a White Council wizard owe you one ought to be useful. "I've got contacts here in Vegas. I can see if I can scrounge up some info, but... well, if things get hairy, you better hope your psychotic sidekick there can back you up, because I'll be on the first train to Alaska." He nodded towards Leo.

"He's not my Sidekick. But I will take what I get." Tim smiled slightly while he wrote quick notes in german in his book. Then he gave Leo a long look. I wonder how he fits into this.

The door to the bar burst open and two figures walked in. The first was a young man in his mid-twenties with wire-rimmed spectacles perched on the bridge of his nose. His hair was very neatly and precisely combed into a style that was nearly 50 years out of place. Behind him was a very harried looking young woman of about the same age, carrying a large stack of manilla folders. In contrast with her companion, her hair was curly and uncombed. They were both wearing grey cloaks, and the man had a silver sword hanging at his hip. Most of the regulars tensed up, and the man in the tweed suit started eyeing the exits. The bartender reached under the bar for whichever weapon of choice he had at hand.

"A beer please barkeep," the man said, far too loudly, in a British accent that grated the ears. The woman fluttered around him appreciatively.

"Sure thing," the bartender said stiffly "What brings you to town?"

"I am Andre Wainright, this is my associate Miss Penelope Green, we are both Wardens of the White Council. We are looking into the demise of the eponymous proprietor of Watkins Emporium. Any information that you or any of your patrons could give us would be most appreciated," Warden Wainright said, beaming around at the bar. The bartender physically struggled not to roll his eyes.

"To further this - oh, Penelope, the files please - we shall interview every magical practioner in the city," Wainright said, as Green dumped the files onto the surface of the bar "For information, obviously,"

Well that was quick....But why would they send british Warden to Warden Ramirez territory?...

He turned to them. "Excuse me, Wardens. I did send a Report to Warden Laskins in San Francisco. He's the Regional Commander...did he by any chance forward it to you?"

Felix stiffened up, but only a little. His introduction to the Wardens hadn't been too bad. A relatively young one had informed him of the do and do nots, mostly the do nots, obviously, as his talents had proven to be way too narrow to be accepted in the Council. Sure, he could manipulate kinetic energy with such subtlety he didn't even notice it himself sometimes, but he couldn't do anything but the most basic thaumaturgy, stuff even the tangentially clued in could do. Sure, he hadn't practiced, but it wasn't quite his thing anyway. He concentrated on his beer for now, it was almost empty, which was worrying.

"God damn it," muttered Miles. "You know, when I said Gray Cloaks, I didn't mean this fast." He measured distances and angles, wondering if there were any chance that he could take them by surprise if it came to it—unlikely. The alternative course of action was the girl.

"Wardens...on time for once?!" Leo though to himself, this was definitely out of the ordinary. Though the fact that they had decided to barge into a bar, at night, and preach their intentions led him to believe that they might not be as on top of the ball as he had though.

The earlier call with his employer had proved fruitful, after informing her of the possible Denaian involvement, she offered to let him leave the contract, no questions asked; he had refused. Cutting and running would leave a bad precedent, besides; he had fought and killed Denarians before.

Keeping his eye on the pair of Wardens that had just entered, he began to formulate a plan, the fact that they intended to "interview" all magical users would give him more info; why they deemed it necessary to limit their investigation to mages was another story; typical White Council bias.

His eyes followed Miss Green as she dropped a stack of folders and ordered her drink; she could be useful.

Warden Wainright's face went noticeably blank, before fixing Tim with an expression of disdain and disinterest.

"I'm afraid that information is priviledged," he said haughtily "Kindly stay out the way of my investigation unless you have something relevant to add,"

Tim stood up and straightened himself. Fixating the Warden with the Sword he slowly said. "I'm Wizard von Hochberg, Member of the White Council and I would kindly ask for your answer, else I would hate to have to bring this all the way up to Captain Luccio." Hate for the fact that aside from having seen her at a distance at Council meetings I don't know her and as such this might be a tad difficult..."So, do you have been in Contact with Warden Laskins?"

Felix considered walking out, but thought better of it. Walking out on wardens sounded like one of those mistakes you just did once. "Another beer, please." He motioned to the bartender. Either way, he'd need another brew in him, this day was slowly degenerating into one of those days.

Warden Wainright's face went pale at the mention of Luccio's name, except for two ruddy spots just over his cheekbones.

"I was assigned this case by my regional commander, Warden Thurston - we are spread rather thin at present, and the Council felt that this meritted further investigation. Have you any information pertaining to this case?"

"Yes, I have indeed. And if I explain them to you what I'm about to do now might not seem too paranoid." With that said Tim run his finger across his pocket knifes edge until a clear line of blood was visible. Before the Warden could guess what he was doing he sticked it right onto his Grey Cloaks Arm, checking to see if the blood would stain it.

Warden Wainright gritted his teeth and wiped the blood off of his cloak, leaving no stain behind. He sneered down at Timothy and cocked his head to one side slightly, as if conceding a point.

"An excellent method of verification," he drawled "But completely irrelevant. I am who I say I am. Your information please,"

"Had to be sure." Then Tim explained what had happened at the Emporium earlier that Day, the Gunmen and their torn out tongues and his suspicion which minions exactly they had met. "You might see why I'm a bit..jumpy, Warden."

"So," Felix said, turning his attention to Miles, deciding the casual was the name of the game today. "You're paranet?" Miles didn't look like he planned on engaging in casual conversation, but it'd have to do. It was him or the closet case with guns, the choice was fairly simple.

"Oh yes," said Miles. "I've been here for a few months, made a few contacts. I knew a few people before then, too."

Miles thought of his slow westward move. Chicago, New Orleans, Grand Forks, Boise—what would happen when he could no longer run?

"Mm? That's a little disappointing," Miles admitted. "I was hoping for a little more, uh, diversity of talent, I suppose. I know a few kinetomancers who make a good living at the casinos, for instance." He hesitated a beat. "No other werewolves that I know of, either. Shame."

Miles smiled, still a little uneasy due to the Warden's presence. "There's a reason I don't go gambling in the big casinos—if the slots don't take your money the practitioners will. I'm enough of a gunslinger to make my college expenses there, with the Wild West show." He lifted the side of his t-shirt slightly to reveal the butt of a revolver, and adopted an Old West accent. "Billy the Kid, pleased to meetcher honor there, sir."

Felix laughed. "Then, I find it quite possible that we've matched wits before." He said, retrieving a translucent red set of dice. "Pick a number between 2 and 12."

"Yes...indeed," Warden Wainright said, adopting a practiced pensive face "This certainly puts the matter under a new light. Thankyou very much for your assistance. Come along Miss Green,"

He span on his heel and walked towards the door, Warden Green hurriedly picking up her stack of files and trotting out after him. The man in the tweed suit instantly relaxed, and the bartender took his hand away from the weapon he was hiding under the bar. Wiping the sweat away from his brow with a tartan handkerchief, the man in tweed stood up and quickly made his way towards the door.

Realizing that there was nothing more to be gained from sitting there, Leo excused himself and walked away from the bar; heading out the door after the few who had just left. Noticing that the street ahead of him was already populated by the 2 wardens, his "friend" from earlier, and a man in a suit, he made sure he was well away from their sight.
