So everyone was fretting over pretty much nothing when it came to Gamecube games regarding the Wii U.
I'm having to learn to pay the priceI have mixed feelings too: I'm partly annoyed that I'll have to buy the same games again, and partly aggravated that they'll probably cost more than used GC games. Oh well, I'll just keep the Wii. And not buy a Wii U.
Except [condescending response follows]. Because [sarcasm here]. You do understand [snark], right? POTHOLE TO SARCASM MODEEh, still holding off until Smash Bros.
It's more frustrating waiting for the asskicking than the asskicking itself.I'm annoyed by people's obsession with "All the way to gamecube" backwards compatibility is so essentially as though all consoles have been backwards compatible beyond one previous console. It's a simple as either keeping your Wii and buying a Wii U or having your Wii traded in for the Wii U and keep your old Gamecube. Either way, people are still being silly about all this.
The Blog The ArtThe REAL question is, can we get games that weren't originally localized?
The New Age of Awesome is here! Not even the sky is the limit!People are annoyed because the Wii and Game Cube hardware are so similar it almost certainly must be a cash grab and not a cost or technical feasibility issue.
Do you suppose downloaded GC games will even be running in an emulator?
Except [condescending response follows]. Because [sarcasm here]. You do understand [snark], right? POTHOLE TO SARCASM MODE^^ Well, Chrono Trigger is on the Australian VC, which was never released here on the SNES. I'm sure there are other examples too. So I don't see why not.
Anyway, it's standard practice that a console is backwards compatible only so far as the previous generation. Not surprising really. People who already own the games can play those, and people who don't can buy them on the Wii U. Win-win.

Not really. The first system to do Backwards Compatability was the PS 2, and the PS 3 does it fine.(not every version, but it does do it in general)
I'm not seeing this more than just being too lazy. However... it's supposedly not Gamecube Controller compatible, so...
Quest 64 threadIt kind of annoys me that everyone seems to have already decided the Wii U will be terrible when it won't be out for at least a year...
Welcome to th:|^^ Is the PS 3 backwards compatible with PSX games? I've heard it has a lot of problems when running PS 2 games, more than the PS 2 has running PSX games.
^ My reaction to the Wii U is pretty much the same as my reaction to the DS, Wii and 3DS - "What the hell?" followed by, "hey, this could be pretty cool."

I wouldn't say the Wii U will be terrible, I'd just say that everything they've revealed about it so far sounds terrible...
The PS 3 can play PSX games, meaning that the GC download "service" is basically PS Ones classics minus the ability to just put a disc in the system... for no reason other than the fact that Nintendo wants your money.

Except [condescending response follows]. Because [sarcasm here]. You do understand [snark], right? POTHOLE TO SARCASM MODEYes, the PS 3 can actually run both PSX / 1 and PS 2 games. Of course, only some models can.
And unless you can transfer your VC Saves from an SD Memory Card over to the Wii U, it's gonna feel like a kick in the nuts. Of course, you may still be able to download regular Wii VC and Wii Ware games though.
Quest 64 threadGiven I'm not getting a Wii U due to No A, just going to tell the non US posters this.
Get Custom Robo (and possibly Baten Kaitos Orgins) if they come out on it, they are AWESOME.
That said, at this point, Twin Snakes, Baten Kaitos 2, and Gotcha Force are the only titles I have left to get every game on the GCN worth playing I've heard of (well, once Chibi Robo and Lost Kingdoms 2 come next week or so)
Ikaruga sounds like a good time, too.
And considering I can't find it on Amazon for less than 100 bucks...
I have a message from another time...Oh, Ikuraga, forgot that, not my kind of game though.
You could check Glyde, they have it for 20...

I hope they put up Tales Of Symphonia and its sequel for download.
Oh yeah, forgot it was on the Wii..

The sequel was a Wii game, wasn't it?
It's more frustrating waiting for the asskicking than the asskicking itself.@deuxhero: Why only non-US tropers?
Support Gravitaz on Kickstarter!I think it's because he hates NOA and doesn't want anyone to support them in any fashion.
Welcome to th:|@deux: Brofist for Gotcha Force.
I agree about the whole fact that people are throwing hissyfits about only being one generation backwards compatible is a silly idea.
"Evii is right though" -Saturn "I didn't know you were a bitch Evii." -Lior ValAh, Operation Rainfall, gotcha. Still looks interesting, so I might buy it at some point, all the same. And the 3DS, sometime.

I kinda have mixed feelings about this. I'm glad that I can play Gamecube games in some way on the Wii U, but I'm also kinda annoyed that I'll have to buy the games all over again, albeit at a (presumably) reduced price.
