Since there isn't a thread, at least one that I know of, on this show.

Damn, I really want to watch the 8 season. I heard that the series end in season 8...but there's season 9? What is that one about?

Season 9 is about "don't watch season 9 of Scrubs." Actually, it wasn't horrible, James Franco's brother is kind of funny in it, but it isn't Scrubs either. All in all it was a bad idea not to end the show with the season 8 finale.

Yeah season 8 ends with a brilliant finale, and then they go and do season 9. Still it's pretty easy to ignore, and it doesn't ruin the prievios season so much as add a worthless epilouge to it.

Yeah, seasons 1-3 are great, 4-6 are OK, 7 is bad, 8 is pretty good and 9 just didn't happen.

Still an awesome show.

I think season 9 could have worked as idependent show, if they didn't have JD to stick around that much. It would have been better as a spinoff.

Season 8 of Scrubs is one of the best finale seasons ever made. It does an excellent job at closure while not trying to hype it up as Nothing Is the Same Anymore. Characters grow into their appropriate places and have to set aside some younger behaviors. Turk had a family and J.D. had his son and it was a hard realization that they aren't always going to be able to drop everything for each other. That doesn't mean they're going to fall away as friends or even Heterosexual Life-Partners, but they knew it was coming.

Season 9 had it's moments but it never came together as it's own show, the fact that most of the original cast is on the DVD cover proves that. Season 5 and 6 is probably the weakest seasons because it became less about the hospital. Season 7 was hurt by the writers strike but you could still feel like it was heading towards a conclusion (it was meant to be the last season but Bill Lawrence didn't want to end the show on such a disjointed note, so he pushed everyone for one more season). My main beef with season 4 is just how pissed off J.D. and Elliot are at each other, conflict is the lynchpin of drama but I'd rather it not delve into such bitterness. Seasons 1-3 are the golden years of the show, Ben Sullivan's death and the way the episode was structured was just a powerful showcase of characters.

Best episodes: "My Way Home" was just fun from beginning to end, "My Musical" gave us the legendary 'Guy Love' song and the "My Heart's on Fire" two parter gave a nice resolution to a lot of building character conflicts.

I personally think that Season 9, while not great, wasn't as terrible as seasons 6-7. It's ok but the new characters weren't as interesting as the originals (at best they were bad expies) and Dr Cox became such a jerk in that season (like an irredeemable jerk for the sake of it as opposed to a Sink or Swim Mentor). Ultimately I'd say give it a miss if only because as a conclusion it's not as good as the ending for season 8 which really felt like a grand finale to the series.

[down]Yeah that more or less sums up my opinion of the series too.

Seasons 1-3 are just fantastic, and are pretty much the golden era of the show. With 4 you can start to see some of the Flanderization and over the top aspects begin to creep in, which really bottoms out in seasons 5-6 and JD's arguably at his cartoonish worst, with seemingly every other episode making him look foolish in some way or another.

7 is a bit crippled by the writer's strike, but at least there JD starts maturing and the characterizations of everyone get a little more down to earth. 8 is a really great return to form (literally growing the beard), and in my opinion, is the show's real final season.

I liked season 9. It was really a spin off, it even has a different name. Once you see it like that, you wish they gave us more, I mean, at least a small finale. I think I liked it more than season 7 :/.

Season 8's finale is great too and the true epilogue.

[up] Well, in a way, you could take season 9/Med School's first season finale as finale for the entire spin-off. It works in sort of a low-key way in that sense.

Hey, anyone here works in medical field or knows a lot about it? What do you think about the series then?

I'm a med student (I'm only in 2nd year though) and from my basic knowledge the medical stuff is pretty accurate. It does seem strange when JD doesn't know stuff that I've been learning- but I just assume it's JD being JD (I mean, hell he doesn't even know where New Zealand is).

[up] Really? Good, because accuracy is a serious business for me, even though it's something that I would have no way of knowing anyways.

My understanding is that the medicine is generally accurate, as well as the progression of a doctor at that stage of their career. I'll admit, before I started watching the show I didn't know there was such a hard line between medical and surgical paths. Things like J.D. not knowing a particular topic isn't wrong medicine, but could be explained that he didn't read up that much in that particular field.

I find this series to be very underrated, as in deserves more popularity, show.

Hmm, rewatched Season 8 and some of Season 9 and I get the hatred of Season 9 now. Originally I just didn't like it for lack of JD and Lucy being pretty bland but even the JD scenes have him being incredibly petty over Drew and Dr Cox. I mean early season eps have JD really going after Cox's affections but not this badly. And Season 8 made it clear that JD and Cox were equals now and dealing with their own thing (I think only the finale really has JD trying to get Cox to say something nice about him and in this case it's understandable)...it's just annoying to see all that characterisation reversed for the sake of some cheap laughs.

Some shows last too little and others last too long. To be honest, I felt the derailment as early as season 6. I love this show, but sometimes I feel it would have been a lot better if it ended with season 4.

I enjoyed the early seasons and watched it less as the show went on. I actually did like Med School, just not the parts with JD and Turk. I felt that they had run their course by then. Plus I agree that JD seems to have leapt off the deep end in terms of maturity. I had thought that he had gotten over his need for constant approval, but he somehow got even more desperate.

What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly.
