Heh. Sony's trying to push people to buy its other product ranges as well. How far is integration going to go, anyway?
I'm glad that M$ and N¥ntendo are relatively focused on games.
But a yen sign doesn't look like an i...
UN JOUR JE SERAI DE RETOUR PRÈS DE TOIAlways good to give people a choice. Besides, how would removing SD support enhance the product?
I still don't play games on an HDTV. And i still have a lot of trouble reading text. Like i'm some second-class citizen of the gaming world just because i can't afford/don't have space for a bigger TV. Mostly because i'd rather spend that money on more games.
This is getting pretty ridiculous though. I can deal with 3D support i'll never use being shoehorned into games i'll never play. But this does not bode well for my future, ye of little disposable income. What's next, only being able to play the PS 3 on sony-manufactured T Vs? -_-
...why don't they want to support Component? This can't be copy-protection-related, as ordinary monitors can also handle HDMI.
Well fuck, there goes my plans for buying a PS 3.
You are not alone, and you are not strange. You are you, and everyone has damage. Be the better person. The thing is... they're not making the old models unbuyable, so why is this a problem then?
Don't get me wrong, I really don't honestly care about everything looking even nicer. I don't bother with the HD, except for my 360. Is it really that big of a deal? Or is it another problems between Graphics Whore and Old-School Gamers now?
Quest 64 threadSo, there's no actual rumour about new PS 3's requiring an HDTV, right?
Helpful Scripts and Stylesheets here. There was an update on this topic, I can't remember the exact source, but if you're more bothered than I am you can probably Google it: it will only require HDMI input for movies, Blu-rays in particular, in order to comply with HD standards that will be in place by 2013. You'll still be able to play games on this new PS 3 on SDT Vs.
In other words, like so much else about the video game industry: stop panicking.
The blind man walking off the cliff is not making a leap of faith.Actually, it says that you only need HDMI for movies in HD. Normal cables still work for SD content.
Helpful Scripts and Stylesheets here.Boom, way to foil piracy, especially the kind of piracy that's only possible with hundreds of dollars in component capture hardware.[eyeroll]
I don't care about the truth in the rumors, I just hope the fact that rumors are getting people upset will finally send the message that HD isn't special. You're making us pay more for what is essentially the same image on a wider screen, you aren't fooling anyone anymore.
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackThis is going to be irritating. Not because it wasn't expected, but because I seem to have the only square hdtv in existence.
Not Three Laws compliant.^^ Hey, at least it got them to add VGA/DVI to set-tops and TVs.

Well. I'm glad I got a PS 3 when I did.
