Hey, I consider it a miracle that it even made the top 5 this week.
For reference, the film has made $18,563,000 domestically and $70,400,000 internationally for a total of $88,963,000. The budget, in comparison, was only $55 million.
This is not bad.
And Avengers was pretty awesome.

Looking for some stories?I suppose. Glad to hear it's apparently more of a hit internationally.
Honestly, I don't think there was ever a perfect time to release it. Had it come out on March 30th it would've had to deal with The Hunger Games, and I think The Lorax was still going strong at that point, too. Best release it on April 27th and give it one week to do relatively well.
Looking for some stories?I realized. There is NO LONGER any time of the year for a movie to be released "conveniently". The movie industry has grown to the point where there will always be the #1 that will exponentially cripple the competition!
Sad but true.
At least this had made back its budget and gotten some profit already.

Looking for some stories? My sister and I were going to see it this past weekend, but she had homework. There's still this coming weekend, though.
And sequel, woohoo!
It's nothing official, just a tweet. From the way Peter worded it, though, it definitely seems like they're either considering it or (if we're very lucky) have already greenlit the thing.
On a related note, who likes this idea? I couldn't quite see him as a crew member, but definitely as a new villain.

Looking for some stories?Yeah, the crew would be too good-hearted to have anyone snappy into it.
For the sequel (if it happens) I'm hoping for a better villain, not in the sense of the character, because Queen Victoria was a good character, but with a better motivation : as you said, having a villain obsessing over just a dodo is maybe too shallow a motive for such an extravagant personality, although it was refreshing to have a villain who's not bent on taking over the world for once.
I like the idea of Rowan Atkinson in the sequel. Maybe more of Brian Blessed too ? And definitely more of Black Bellamy/Cutlass Liz, I'm thinking they could form a team and go after Pirate Captain and his mateys. That'd be awesome if it was done right.
You are standing in an open field west of a white house, with a boarded front door. There is a small mailbox here.Maybe Rowan Atkinson can play Napoleon!
I don't remember what Rowan Atkinson has done...
Can he do a decent French accent? Because if so, that has to happen.
Blackadder. Watch a few episodes of that and you'll understand why he'd be perfect for a villainous role in this series.

Looking for some stories?Mr Bean, Zazu from The Lion King, Rat Race......... and the "villain" from Scooby-Doo, but nobody cared about that one.

I forgot he did Zazu. Yeah, he'd fit right in in Pirates.
Come to think of it, the original books get compared to Blackadder a lot anyway. So yeah, this needs to happen.
If anyone ever writes a Pirates fanfic with Napoleon, I'm gonna be hearing him with Atkinson's voice whether I want to or not.

Looking for some stories? Not caring about Avengers in the slightest, went to watch Pirates! instead. Can't wait it comes out on DVD in R2; want to see it without the edits.
What I'm hoping for is that the British cut can be released as an alternate option on the American DVD. Probably won't happen, but still.
Looking for some stories?Maybe someone will upload unedited scenes on You Tube.

PAL DVD's have 20% more resolution (fullscreen and anamorphic).
PAL?
It is possible to upload movie scenes on You Tube and have them look good. You can even do whole movies if the thing's old enough (or if you're sneaky enough).

Looking for some stories? Why do PAL DVD's (of American media) get bonuses, anyway? Europe especially got better image resolution for the boxsets for The Littles and The Mysterious Cities Of Gold, they get the entire Aladdin trilogy in one set, and The Swan Princess and The Powerpuff Girls Movie were in Widescreen for their DVD releases. In this field, the one UK-to-US advantage would be the UK dub of The Secret World Of Arrietty being included in the DVD/Blu-ray combo pack.
So, Pirates. What do you guys think's gonna happen?

I'm crossing my fingers for the American DVD/Blu-ray including the UK version as an alternate viewing option. And for the love of God, clean up the leper boat scene.
Assuming that most of us have seen the film by now, I'm going to repost this little gem. Even if you haven't seen the movie, I don't think there's anything here which would really spoil it.
I believe I read somewhere that the UK DVD/Blu-ray release date is set for September 24th, or something like that.

Looking for some stories? That was funny! I'd buy the short, though I'm wondering if it'll come with the movie.
Just making sure, they changed the "leper" part of the line, yes? It was "leper boat" in the trailers, I don't see why they would've changed it.
Not only will it come with the movie, but that was just a mere clip from it.
Yeah, they changed "leper" to "plague." They could've gone with changing just that word, but no, they had to do it like this:
"Gold? This is a plague boat! I'd give my right arm for some gold!" -arm falls off- "Oh! Well, my left arm will do as well!"
This totally messes up the audio/visual synchronization and makes the whole scene look like crap.
Why did they change it? Well, there's been plenty of griping about that already. Let's just say that some people simply can't take a joke.

Looking for some stories?
Weekend box office tallies are in. The Avengers broke the record for the highest grossing opening weekend in cinema history beating out the final Harry Potter film. Surely this means The Pirates got pushed down to 2nd or 3rd place, right?
It dropped down to THE FIFTH. This is ONLY ONE WEEK AFTER ITS RELEASE.
None of the other films earned over $6 million this past weekend.
If Hollywood keeps this up, people will seriously start rethinking the system.
