The Pirates! Band of Misfits- New stop motion film from Aardman

I was able to find a pretty high-quality version online, I skipped to the credits and noticed a few things. In addition to all the blink-and-you-miss-it gags, there are moving pictures showing characters doing various dances. Also, the background starts out being the Pirate Captain's cabin but transitions through each location from the film. I thought that was clever.

I have this weird Fanon theory that the native women Darwin hits on are secretly planning to use him as a human sacrifice, because Rule of Funny dictates that it shouldn't be that easy for him to get a girlfriend. The pirates show up and save him, of course.

@spoiler: If they do greenlight a sequel, that would actually be a great way to start it off.

Maybe Elmer Fudd can be The Pirate With The Scarf, instead of Sylvester, or maybe Porky can be the Pirate In The Scarf and ELMER can be Darwin. Or SYLVESTER can be Darwin! Gaaaaaaaaah!!!

Hey, you're right! Maybe I could write this thing...or at least come up with the story. I'm not too good at being witty.

Gah, I'm so annoyed. The only place to buy the score for this movie is iTunes, which I don't have, and it's not on You Tube.

First Rule 34 of Pirate Captain, made by yours truly! (Warning NSFW◊)

I've been busy, too.

There are so many ideas for Pirates! fics floating around in my head that I decided to write them all and weave them into a single continuity. Starting with the WMG I mentioned earlier.

It's got very heavy shades of Monkey Island, which is also a series. I can see people having fun with it.

Wow, that was actually pretty good! I hope they use that as a short on the DVD or something. One nitpick, though: how can they read Bobo's cards in the dark?

I figured there was some light coming in from somewhere.

What I love about this series is that most questions/nitpicks can be answered with Rule of Funny. Really opens up the possibilities for what you can do. Historical accuracy, for example, is not a factor. Which will soon prove very useful to me.

I automatically thought of the girl on fire with the Pirate Captain's outfit. Intentional?

This was very funny, from Polly untying knots, to the running into queens remark, and the mini-volcano. Just like the movie. -grins- Mort, you certainly are very adapt at humor.

It wasn't intentional at first. I realized what I'd done afterwards, but it worked so well that I decided to just go with it. And honestly, it sounds cooler than Katniss's outfit. The Pirate Captain gets to have real fire.

I'm glad to know it's like the movie. I tried to write something that could actually fit with the film in terms of tone.

The DVD/Blu-ray is set for August 28th and can now be pre-ordered.

Eeeeee.

We're actually getting it before the UK does. Weird.

Anyway, I can't wait to see the entirety of "So You Want To Be A Pirate!"

I thought you were from the UK. XD And yeah, it's kinda weird that we're getting it first. I'll wait for a cheap copy, though—I can't even afford any of the DVD's I want to get right now, and some of those are $5.

No, really, I actually want to know. I'm curious.

I'm not sure, maybe you knowing more about the Pirates franchise in general gave me that impression.

I've been practically stalking this movie ever since I saw the original trailer. I literally went on a virtual quest to learn everything I could about it, mainly because I grew up with Aardman and was overjoyed to see it making a comeback.

I wonder how well the DVD will sell in America.

What if it pulls an All Dogs Go To Heaven on us and becomes a Sleeper Hit? That would be most delighting! Of course, that'd mean it'd probably run out before I can snag a copy.

DV Ds are cheaper than movie tickets, and word of mouth seems to be good. I could see Pirates becoming a Sleeper Hit, or maybe getting Vindicated by Cable.
