Well Annihilus has become a pretty big deal lately. Ronan the Accuser too (though he's been a hero a lot). And Kang the Conqueror is technically an FF villain kinda sorta.
I guess I stand corrected.
George Stacy, my bad, her father.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!And there's also Jean DeWolff.
Superficial - existing or occurring at or on the surface level
Those simularities you listed feel like the definition of superficial.
-inspired by trauma
-hunted the cause down in revenge
-knows martial arts
-one living relative
-reptile themed villain
-parents are dead
-has a love interest with red hair
-super reflexes
-super strength
-popular animated series
-can walk on walls
-has a daughter depending on continuity
I guess Sasuke is the Spider-man of Naruto
(I don't know how to do bullet points)

I know I'm being nitpicky, but Batman has a daughter in the main continuity. Adopted, but still.
And I think a better example of a fight that made little sense was Scorpion vs Ryu. If they wanted a matchup that made more sense, I'd say Liu Kang vs Ryu.
They're both martial artists, the heroes of their stories, enemies of Akuma and Shang Tsung (who had a death battle themselves), use fire blasts, and even wear red headbands. They also both have a dark side thats been exploited by the villains.
Well... My list was comparing Sasuke and Spider-man, I was trying to make a point that such a list could be made between characters who really aren't that similar.
Also I'm not saying their fights don't make sense, just that there wasn't a lot of thought put into them. It doesn't take a lot of thought to go: " Lets have DC's most popular character fight Marvel's" or "these 2 characters are thunder gods" or "lets do that fight people have been arguing about for 20 years".
It sounds like you disagree with the premise of the show. I'm just going to agree to disagree.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!I enjoy the fights where the combatants are quite different (Mario/Sonic, Link/Cloud, Spiderman/Batman, etc.), mainly because the fight actually has to follow a direction that makes sense, and the conclusion to the battle usually relies on that ("Mario&Sonic have plenty of power-ups, but Sonic is still incredibly fast in his default state", "Batman's greatest strength is stealth, but the Spider-sense makes it useless" "Link&Cloud have a huge number of options and potential strategies, but Link is more used to analytical thinking than Cloud on his own", etc.)
Meanwhile, battles where the characters have similar movesets/fighting styles can be underwhelming, since the solution is more banal ("Hawkeye/Superman/whomever wins due to superior stats"). Not to say you can't have both ("DK's superior strength trumps Knuckles' superior speed because of their close-range fighting styles"), but it's easier to see more creative developments when the characters are different.
Nope. Not at all. Someone was complaining about people's opinions for who they want to see fight and I was just pointing out that Death Battle haven't been perfect at that themselves. The only match ups I personally don't like are the ones that are obvious stomps.

Fair enough.
I personally enjoy the fights that have some thematic clout. Luthor vs Stark, a genius that uses said genius for good, vs one who uses it for evil. Link vs Cloud, powerful swordsmen with uncertain identities. Superman vs Goku, alien infants from a doomed species. Potter and Skywalker, children of the prophecy fated to battle great forces of evil. Etc.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!You know what battle would make sense?
Sakura and Karin of Street Fighter vs Asuka and Lili of Tekken.
Ooh, I just had a good idea for a team vs team fight.
Teenaged superheros from DC vs teenaged superheros from Marvel.
Cute.
I like that one, but I don't know who Karin is. Damn, this fight needs to happen.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Karin is Sakura's rich snob rival / Sitcom Archnemesis from the Alpha series, who is ironically coming back in a game without Sakura at all.
Sakura's rival who's a rich girl just like Lili:
Edit:Actually, Sakura is in the game as a character in Karin's story mode◊ but isn't in as a fighter yet.
The battle works great because:
- Both Sakura and Asuka are schoolgirls connected to the main characters(Sakura is Ryu's biggest fan and Asuka is related to Jin)
- Both Karin and Lili are rich schoolgirls who live in mansions and have butlers
- Both duos are (mostly friendly)rivals who likes the other enough to work together or train but the rich girls both like to mess with the normal schoolgirl to start fights or just for fun
- Both duos are around the same power level(Sakura might be the strongest of them if material from outside the games are included due to her Satsui no Hado problem...)
- Asuka/Lili have already fought as a team in SF X T(Sakura was a DLC character who had Asuka's schoolgirl outfit as a costume)
- Both Sakura/Karin and Asuka/Lili are popular yuri ships

...all three of you posted the exact same video.
Let's see if you can get past my Beelzemon. Mephiles, WARP SHINKA!That's what happens when fans are in a hurry.

Thank you for the fast response. But yeah, I see what you guys mean, a tag-team death battle between those pairs would be great. Lili and Karin seem quite similar, right down to the fighting style, Lili's is just fancier.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!As a fan of both Tekken and Street Fighter, I approve of this suggestion.
Heck, it should just happen as an official crossover, or something. Have the four of them be in an ending.
Who would be a good opponent for Wolf from Star Fox?
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!Something tells me the answer is Bucky O'Hare.
How would a fight between X and Erza Scarlet go? I have next to no experience with Fairy Tail, so I don't know if I'm over/underestimating Erza, but I know that she uses different armors in battle, so I feel that a fight between her and X would be good thematically.

I wonder who could be a good opponent for Nico Robin, to create a fight that isn't a curb stomp in one direction or the other.
I have a message from another time...
Not necessarily parody opponents, though. They did this all the time in Season 1, which you can see if you scroll through the first pages. They stopped doing those kinds of videos with Pikachu vs Blanka.
