us dutchmen have been mocking Hoekstra for years
He thinks we burn politicians!!
Well, isn't that what politicians are for?

That's uh...that's a pretty dark video, jeez. Interesting and quality Kyle as per usual but damn, it felt really ominous.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?I've been to the US but mostly small bits of Northern Washington. I however have been to Barkerville (a recreation of a ghost town at it's height, with actors sometimes playing historic characters, it's the same place granted all the same wooden buildings). Also yeah the dead humans with CGI is I don't know.

I just watched the video an hour ago. It was pretty good. Kind of makes you think, doesn't it?

That seems to be Kyle's brand these days! It's a good brand
Despite my screen-name, ranting to you about One Piece is not my top priority.Wasn't always like that? What I like from his videos is that I always learn something new... no matter how nerd that sounds.

Welcome to the party Kyle!
What.. even.. is video essays??
So much angry nihilism.
Interesting reading the comments by Eastern European viewers giving more detailed background on the film and director.
I wouldn't call it nihilistic. If anything, he ends the video quite positively.

Kyle wrote on his Twitter reflecting on the experience of writing the video, his recorded flippancy towards the director, and moving from auteur theory.
I don’t want you to see The Color Of Pomegranates because it was made by a hero. I want you to see it because it’s beautiful.
It's unlisted on his channel page, but he linked it on his Twitter.
Kyle talks about nostalgia, streaming services, and how the nature of one relates to the other.
I don't know how he does it, but his videos seem to be simultaneously getting shorter and more profound. Really moving stuff.
Also, if you really pay attention, some shade is throw at Blip and Doug Walker, and Kyle's own time working for both. "Adults angry that they're no longer children", indeed.

New video, "How Penn and Teller Taught Me About Art" I can't link it due to mouse/trackpad issues, on my part. Apparently they had a PBS kid's show, about art.
Here it is.
I actually remember watching an episode of this, the one about lines, in my high school art class. It had a lot of pretty amusing moments.
more about the film and its subject per se than the fancy effects to make it
Having watched countless After Effects tutorials back in college in an attempt to make passable work for my VFX class, Kyle's video is very accurate to the source material. They all talk like that, it's scary.
Kyle discusses My Own Private Idaho
How do you talk about a Shakespeare adaptation, when Shakespeare is the least interesting part of the film?
Oh well congratulations to them!
"My Own Private Idaho" sounds like a really interesting movie, and that scene does seem interesting. I admit I never thought of checking it out, because I didn't know what it was about before.
