Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Naah, ban guns.
I would really like to know where that hole is so i can get a taste.
"Psssh. Even if you could catch a miracle on a picture any person would probably delete it to make space for more porn." - AszurTo be fair, the first two can be seen as accidents (One as negligent homicide though)
the rest are acts of murder
Also, regarding rand "No experience can be a good thing"?
The tea party almost making our country default says poo on that.

Everything is Possible. But some things are more Probable than others. JEBAGEDDON 2016But then Obama also had basically no experience (at least at the federal level. He didn't go from "Community Organizer" to President as fast as some would have you believe, but he also didn't even finish his first term in the Senate.).
Experience is good for some things, but not a real prerequisite for a good president. Lincoln hadn't done much with himself either, compared to his contemporaries (Buchanan, for instance, had been jumping around the State Department for decades. Look how that ended up).
I get the feeling that this is a poor idea
Oh really when? And even then, it's pretty meaningless outside of cash-vacuuming athletic programs. I had less African-American classmates than international transfers who were actually from Africa.
Actually, when you remove Affirmative Action, Asians get the best test scores outta everyone, so....

Schild und Schwert der ParteiDamn, Louisiana jumped on that and held on screaming didn't they?
"Psssh. Even if you could catch a miracle on a picture any person would probably delete it to make space for more porn." - AszurI recall reading somewhere, that Louisiana has the highest imprisonment rate, not just the country, but the entire world.
In fairness, America's "highest imprisonment rate" is in a fairly large part due to countries like the PRC and North Korea liberally executing people, meaning their rates of "imprisoned" individuals are much lower.
Still, "we are just better than the ChiComs and the Norks" is hardly a ringing endorsement...

Schild und Schwert der ParteiThat did look a lot like going "anything you can do, I can do better" yelled at Texas, didn't it?
Haha yeah! I kept looking for Texas to go darkest but nope!

So...how's the job market in Toronto?
Or anywhere outside of the USA basically...

In Toronto? Awful. But that's mostly because it's the biggest city in the country and a quarter of the country's population lives within three hours driving distance. I've been job hunting for years. I might have a job lined up now though, I just have to wait until Monday.
The Maritimes have it pretty bad, Alberta is booming (kind of, it's mostly just the oil industry) and the rest of Canada is kind of eh. Not that bad, not that great.
Not Three Laws compliant.I see what you did there.
Schild und Schwert der ParteiOh my goodness, I didn't even realize that. I never say eh in real life, so that was completely unintentional.

Not Three Laws compliant. Can't be worse than America, considering you just won "most wealthy middle class."
Lately I'm starting to think this country is just not one I can support.

Canada sounds nicer by the day.
I mean their money smells like maple syrup and is waterproof, how amazing is that?
Oh really when?
The threat of terrorism◊.
