Sorry that I'm no help at all, but...Mario characters in the Soul Calibur IV creation mode? I...have to see what this looks like, just because I can't see how you could make Mario characters at all...
Welcome to th:|The Mario ones are only okay, but some of the other ones I saw were practically identical to their real versions. It was impressive.
Aww... Why does it not get to be on the Wii? It's no fair.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! You can get excellent character customization with pro wrestling games. I haven't been paying attention to them in the last few years, but I used to play them a fair bit. Always a blast to make a whole roster of your favourite characters.
Hell, in a ten-year old game, I was able to make Duke Davis from Bad Street Brawler. Yeah, this guy. (Link slightly NSFW)
Don't take life too seriously. It's only a temporary situation.I have a few wrestling games. They don't quite meet the second requirement, and they definitely don't meet the first requirement (In my opinion, anyway).

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Honestly? I have Soul Calibur IV for the Xbox 360 and the customization mode isn't THAT good in the game.

Current project: Cleaning up the Chrono Crusade examples one at a time. God help me.I've seen videos of custom characters, though. They seem pretty customizable. At the very least, it's good enough for me.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I've got it, but I've yet to unlock all the costumes, so I am unable to make a Quintessential British Gentleman just yet...
Likes many underrated webcomicsSaints Row? It's not a fighting game and it's not on GC/Wii...but the character customization is brutal.
What do you get if you burn tomatoes? Ash Ketchump.
I recently saw videos of custom characters made in Soul Calibur 4. You know, Mario characters, Pokemon Gym Leaders, CD-I characters, real-life people, and all other sorts of stuff. It looked fun, but it's not for the Wii and that's what I have...
So, does anyone know a game that:
Because I'd like to try recreating characters and making them fight.
