I wouldn't plan to. Alcohol can be used in different ways - adding it to a pie or a sauce, mixed in with a dessert, shot form, with a mixer, etc. But it's still taxed the same, as should any other drug if legalised.

My name is Addy. Please call me that instead of my username.

See Gasoline, it can be taxed differently based on use. Might also be the case with industrial alcohol, I don't know.

While to me marijuana is just as alcohol

I have learned not to trust to much in ppl who either smoke a lot or drink a lot. There are exceptions, of course, but usually I have found they are irresponsible people.

Besides the same thing happens with tabaco, you should see how angry some people get when the topic of "smoking is bad" pops up for whatever reason.

This a rather unique complaint. Of all the stoners I know, pretty much all of them will straight up admit that they smoke and drink purely for the sake of getting fucked up.

I also wouldn't be wary of people giving a reason for taking prescription medication. I mean, it's prescription. The reason they give may very be very valid.

Oh, I recognize you as a loser if you drink just the same as less than legal drugs. You shouldn't be forced to not drink, but you are a loser.

I smoke pot because I like the way it makes me feel. I admit that fully. Any other positive benefits resulting from my cannabis use are secondary to the fact that I smoke it because I like getting high.

Of course, we're usually reluctant to admit that because we don't want a bunch of self-righteous assholes taking that at face value and using it as some bass-ackwards "proof" as to why drugs need to be outlawed. So we try to explain the other positive effects of our drug use(aside from the fact that we enjoy using them and aren't hurting anyone, which should be enough fucking reason to legalize them if you ask me) as a way to "sugarcoat" it and not seem so selfish.

There's no aversion to admitting it beyond the aversion that society's warped standards have forced us to develop.

Now as for drinking? Well... I'm a writer. All writers drink.

Why do Moral Guardians have such a stick up their ass about using chemicals to produce a 'feel good' feeling?

Maybe the Protestant ethic at work: true joy in life should only be derived from hard work and accomplishment rather than chemical assistance.

Maybe because it implies that our minds can easily be altered with chemicals and that we don't have a soul.

But let me tell u men Ive tried some stuff and while I get why people do it, I realize it can be very dangerous some times. You can seriously fuck yourself up if you dont pay attention to what your doing for various reasons, this plus ppl associating pretty much every drug with Hashish, resulted in the ban I suppose.

I mean when you see someone freaking out you think "maybe this is not a good thing", and after some people saw there children or the neighbour children fucked up they sought to ban it.

Eating food changes your neurochemistry as well, from feeling hungry to feeling full. I don't think anyone's considered saying eating food proves we have no souls.

It's obviously a pretty fragile belief though.
