Mainly cause, due to DKC, since Cranky is the original Donkey Kong from the arcade game, and the new DK may be his son (or maybe his grandson), the new DK may technically be DK Jr. But that doesn't stop Mario and Baby Mario from appearing in the same game.
GUESS WHO'S GONNA HAVE TO MOP UP ALL THIS BLOODUnless DK Jr. becomes playable in Mario Party 9, I don't see any reason why that makes a difference.
Likewise, side games have no real Canon to speak of(except possible of its own specific series). I just consider each game completely self-contained.
And Baby Mario has appeared in Mario Kart too, so...
Quest 64 threadI just hope that board where everyone is in the car together is its own thing, 'cuz it would be sad if the whole game was like that...

"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaPeach was seen traveling across spaces by herself in the trailer.
Also, it looks like they took the stars out of the game and replaced them with those mini stars.
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!Even though it isn't the best of the 64 games, I kinda want Mario Party 3 to come at the Virtual Console. Getting and setting up the N64 is just too much of a pain in the neck (and all my analog sticks are busted).
*squints* Huh. She is. I thought that was part of a mini-game at first.

That board seems to have a clearly defined Start and Goal to me.
Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!What's your favorite three boards from each Mario Party you've played? I will list mine:
- 1. Eternal Star
- 2. Luigi's Engine Room
- 3. Bowser's Magma Mountain
- 1. Horror Land
- 2. Bowser Land
- 3. Space Land
- 1. Waluigi's Island
- 2. Creepy Cavern
- 3. Spiny Desert
Super Duel Mode
- 1. Pipesqueak
- 2. Backtrack
- 3. Gate Guy
- 1. Pirate Dream
*BONUS* Super Duel Machine: Folt v9
- Boo Body
- E.Gadd Jet
- Ztar Engine
- Mr. I Laser
- 1. Bowser Pinball Machine
- 2. Kamek's Library
- 3. DK's Stone Statue
First Game: Peach's Birthday Cake. It's one of the few boards where I'll actually play the alleged "Full Play" length (35 turns), so I can build up a good collection of stars and have some delicious Piranha Plant-nomming fun.
Second Game: Haunted Land, or Spooky Land, or Magic Land—whatever the day-night board is called. Not only are the costumes cool, nothing lets you feel like such a glorious douchebag as pulling off a Big Boo Star Steal.
Third Game: I don't remember the boards that well, sadly. :(
Sixth Game: Towering Treetops is fun in its simplicity, and I love how ridiculous some of the star counts can get on Faire Square.

Possibly including something like Mario Kart 7's Communities!
Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!I guess I missed this thread while I was away from the Internet.
I've only played 2 and 5, although I've at least seen 1, 3, and 8 (which.... yeah, looks bad.).
It's been so long, though, that I don't remember my favorite boards. (However, the tank battle thing in 5 was the best.)

"Only now, after being besieged by a flock of talking ponies, did he really understand what he'd lost. "I recently acquired the DS game. The small board sizes make me sad. And no, that's not a pun on the game's Macro Zone setting, but rather the fact that one ten roll will take you halfway around the board. The graphics are nice, though, and some of the new minigames are quite fun. "Camera Shy" is becoming a favorite, quickly.
Story mode is being a right pain, though. The lack of bonus stars means you can play really well and win every mini-game (as I did), but still be screwed if you don't roll well.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaI stopped after Mario Party 3. I enjoyed the first one to death, despite some of those annoying rotate the control stick minigames, and I can see why they stopped with those ones.
I never understood the love for the second game, though, it felt shorter and there wasn't as much content.
Don't Press Your Luck too many times in life. You'll just get whammied.COSTUMES! =D
Also, Horror Land!
Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!My favorite Mario Party Map is E. Gadd's Garage from Mario Party 6, and Koopa's Resort from 4. It's been too long since I've played 2, which is my favorite of the series, so I can't remember which boards I liked most.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Space Land was awesome from 2
"For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die."Although Space Land had one little problem.
VWEEOVWEEOVWEEOVWEEO
Seriously, it was worth it setting the Speed Trap just to get yourself out of Happening Hell sometimes.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaHorror Land had Big Boo!
Stealing 3 Stars at once from your opponents was completely worth it!
Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!In Space Land, it was awesome tripping the switch to Bowser's coin stealing death ray when three people were on that long diagonal path. What's that? I have 200 coins, and all of you have none? Hah, sucks to be you. :D
"For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die."Big Boo is definitely a favorite. I always feel a little bad using it, since when we play, we usually gang up on the computer and don't use Boo friendly fire much. (We're surprisingly nice to each other in Mario Party.) But most of my family/friends agree, it's too epic to be mad over.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaBest Buy seems to have leaked the box art for this game. I like it, if a bit busy. The new logo's pretty colorful.
We have release dates! North America gets it March 11th and Europe gets it March 13th. No info on the rest.
Anyways, North American site for the game. Those of you too lazy to click the link for whatever reason, here's a summary.
- The board we saw in the trailer is called Toad Road, and another board has been revealed and it is called Boo's Horror Castle.
- All players are working together when going across the board, however we still fight competitively for our own personal gain.
- Unfortunately, this means the old way of moving is gone now. Players only travel by riding a vehicle, such as a car, submarine, or a magic carpet. There are captain events for the player in control of the vehicle at the time.
- Bowser has stolen the mini-stars we saw in the trailer, and players are working to get those back.
- There are also clusters of mini-stars and dark mini-stars.
- Completion of a board will result in a boss battle, in which all 4 players have to work together to win.
- Whomp, Blooper, King Boo, and Bowser are confirmed as bosses.
- We can play mini-games individually if we want, yadda yadda yadda.
- Points are still a part of the series.
This site also has more info on the game.
- Platform Peril's back, with NSMBW motifs this time.
- 2 vs. 1 games are here, with 2 players facing off against Bowser Jr.
- We have a Pizza spinning and some sort of paint mini-game.
You know, I'm kind of looking forward to this. With the game not being developed by Hudson this time (Not that I have anything against them), it looks like we're gonna get a different experience. Also, from watching the trailer again, it looks like this game does not have horrible framerate issues that Mario Party 8 had, which oddly enough, speaks volumes for me.
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!Huh, so this Mario Party will have more of an emphasis on co-op'ration (without completely eliminating competition). Interesting, though considering how multiplayer games in general have been trending towards that lately, not all that surprising.
I guess the boss battles are going to be like co-op minigames, too; I've been waiting for those since Running of the Bulb way back in the first game... It'd be nice if they had a couple of those among the regular minigames, too.
Running Of The Bulb and Key-Pa-Way are in my top 3 favorite minigames. Running Of The Bulb even plays the "New Record" victory theme when you win which is awesome! Truly made me want to win it every time.
Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!I could deal with one or two boards based on the vehicle theme, but the whole game? That just... doesn't feel like Mario Party to me. I mean, I'm OK with trying new things, but that feels like a bit too much at once. I do like the idea of 2-vs.-Baby Bowser games, but chasing each other around the board is one of my favorite things about the series.
And when are they gonna bring back the Duel Boards from 3? C'mon, that was awesome! :P

Wasn't he (it?) already? Pretty amazing that the Blooper, a squid, made it to playable status before ol' Shy Guy.
I can't be the only one who wants Diddy and Dixie Kong as playable characters, can I? Maybe Donkey Kong Jr.? It's been a while since we've seen that guy.
