Much as I am enjoying Unity, I haven't played it ina couple of weeks - it hasn't gripped me the way Rogue did. I definitely think Arno was the wrong choice of protagonist, going by what you're showing here Prime.
Which is a shame - the story from the point of view of a peaceful Templar, one who may even adopt elements of the Assassin's Creed, who tries to bridge the worlds, would have been brilliant.
I think they may have actually pitched that initially, but I bet someone in Ubisoft popped their monacle and swore about how Women aren't interesting protagonists and "who ever heard of a male side charcter!" whilst switching off Kim Possible...
The game is solid just not... that compelling. Paris is pretty, but static. I don't like how the shops are in a menu, not on the street (For weapons and clothing etc) and I'm finding the app to be frustrating, as I had to time when I open the ap to ensure I can get to chests, or else you lose them and they remain on the map...
Hopefully Victory will do something different, maybe give us a pistol with more than one shot :D
Man, judging from Prime's posts, not having the player play as Elise, as well as killing her at the end of the game just seems like a massive waste.
Killing her isn't necessarily a waste, if done right, but killing her to fuel Arno's man-angst is.
I'd say killing her when there is so much to her character arc that is never even explored in-game is irritating. I mean, holy shit, I WISH she went into all this detail in-story about how she wants to end the war and we saw all the exact details of her civil war within The Templars. Her father isn't even dead yet and I'm enjoying it.
Improving as an author, one video at a time.Escpecially since his man-angst adds to nothing. It adds NOTHING to the story. If she died earlier and the third act spawns from her death, that may justify it. But her death just happens...
Reading some more right now, but if anyone were to question the legitimacy of Elise's ideals when it comes to bringing the two together, at least if she's doing it for purely selfish reasons, that actually has been addressed now.
“I can tell. Your ideas, they had a certain youthful idealism, but also they showed a certain . . . maturity.”
For that I offered a silent thanks (not to mention an apology) to Haytham Kenway.
“Perhaps it may interest you to know that I have arranged to meet the Assassin Grand Master, Count Mirabeau,” continued Father.
“Really?”
He held a finger to his lips. “Yes, really.”
“Because you want our two Orders to begin talks?” I asked, whispering now.
“Because I think we may have some common ground on the issue of our country’s future.”
Perhaps, dear journal, you’re wondering if my conversion to the idea of Assassin-Templar unity had anything to do with the fact that I was a Templar and Arno an Assassin?
No, is the answer. Any vision I had for the future was for the good of us all. But if that meant that Arno and I could be together, with no pretense or lies between us, then of course I embraced that, too, but only as a pleasant added benefit. Promise.
Anyway, I've reached the start of the game now. Arno and Elise are dancing together at the soiree that's being held in her honor for her return. Oh and Elise hunted down the attempted killer for second time now, interrogated him for information, and he's basically been given 6 months to uncover anything for her to work with. As for stuff with her father, well, that part there is their last talk before he's killed.
What they did that day, to note, was indoctrinate Elise. So yeah, that was the day she officially became part of The Order. Blah blah blah, as said, I'm at Elise's debut in the game and her perspective from seeing Arno again, luring him to that one room, etc. Overall, she's really happy to see him.
Arno and I looked at one another, kids again—kids caught pilfering apples or stealing pies from the kitchen. If I could bottle that moment, I would.
Something tells me I’m never going to feel happiness like that again.

Improving as an author, one video at a time. The Assassin's Creed movie has officially started production.
I'm finally starting Rogue. I have this bad feeling the story is going to be depressing.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult. If you like collectibles, then good news!
Funko has new Pop! figures based on Unity. And, in a first for the line (apart from that weird time when one of the plague doctors from ACII got a figure), a we're getting more than just the playable character!
THANK GOD they have Elise.
But, why is Arno grey when his main colors are a French Cockcade???
I think that's just the render. The figure on display at Toy Fair is the proper blue.
Playing Black Flag. What good is money for? Is shop renovation back?
#IceBearForPresidentUpgrading your ship.
And also pimping out your island base.

That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.Rogue sure ended abruptly. I thought there was going to be some midgame twist that showed Cormac was a double agent. But no, he just slaughtered the Assassins because Achilles was a huge fucking idiot.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Hell yeah at Assassins creed movie starting.

All for AC in Japan.
"I don't give a rat's ass about going to hell. I guess it's because I feel like I'm already there." -MugenBeat Black Flag. Found the ending pretty good and came to really appreciate Edward. Then I found out about the events of Forsaken.
Boo.
#IceBearForPresidentI just tell myself Edward had the flu, thus why he went down like such a pussy.
I now feel even more bitter about Unity knowing that they cut out what could have been actual plot advancement.
And a document of history to be spread through out the next 10-20 years of the franchise?
At this rate, the franchise isn't going to last the next 5 years.
^^ It's not just that Edward goes out like a punk, but also that he becomes estranged with his daughter even though that credits sequence with her was simply adorable, and that Haytham begins his start down the Templar path with the man who caused the Kenway line such grief.

Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.Nice but Aveline belongs there far more than Shay does...
Some clarification on the stuff in the last video.
Yeah, Shay being there felt weird too.
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.
I think we need Arno in relation to Elise's character arc, though I'd say he's more of a supporting character to her story and her growth than the other way around. Arno himself has had some diary entries here and there throughout, more since he's been reading her journal (obviously) and has left some things writing wise in there in response to Elise.
...I'll continue excerpts later on, I've been moving recently and so haven't had the time to do any reading. At most, Elise is back in France now and lying low. She expects The Carols to eventually make a move against her, but knows it'll have to be clandestine as trying to kill a future Grandmaster looks poorly on them.
Oh and one thing I didn't mention (well, various things I've not), Elise has picked up a travelling companion of sorts who has stuck with her. During her travels to England, she met this chick who basically was going to be sold as a sex slave type situation. Elise almost got pulled into that too when she was looking for a smuggler. Anyway, Elise rescued her and so she's pretty much sworn her loyalty to Elise. They contrast one another, with Elise being the more fiery one and her demure, quieter of the pair. They've been getting along and, after a bit of trying to get her to leave and her refusal even after Elise says that she repaid any debt. She asked if Elise cared then if they were just friends and Elise couldn't bring herself to say no.
Oh and for last remaining one of Elise's companions, there is her guardian of sorts who her mother introduced her to, only one who knows about Elise's England antics, and so forth. He was definitely in love with Elise's mother and whole stuff there, with them having once been a couple. Anyway, he's been keeping an eye after her for most part.
To note, Elise spent a majority of her teenage years growing up at this finishing school basically, the one I previously mentioned. Right now story wise she's around 19 to 21 (I can't remember after doing the math, I think it was 21). It should be fun picking back up stuff later on when I have the time.
