I hope Zynga burns.
Extreme unexplained opinion detected. Code yellow. Proceed with caution.
Also, what do you mean "going public"? Can anyone else explain this better?

You can now buy their shares on the stock market.

Sorry lol, just cant stand everything they stand for and do.
I wonder if this will end up like Google, with everyone going insane to buy the shares.
Well why don't you buy some shares.
Why would I buy shares in something I hope collapses?
In other words, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah casual games are bigger than you think.
"It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt." - Some guy with a snazzy hat.Nah. Its all the micro-transactions, and the way they act.
Also yes, I dislike social gaming. It killed Sim City
There is nothing they could do that could redeem the company in my eyes. I dont even have Facebook.
If everyone stopped copying Zynga I wouldn't mind, I should add.

You don't want to collapse it.
You want to change it.
It is a game company with plenty of clout. Better you make it do an about face.
> You want to change it.
Well I don't. I don't want that company to exist. It employs microtransaction and social gaming in the worst way possible.
I will consume not only your flesh, but your very soul. All it needs is new leadership.
Why would they do that? Its becoming stupidly successful. If anything more companies are gonna start copying them. Oh wait, they are.
Hey you can be part of the coup that overthrows the current executives in charge.
Of course that requires you to be somewhat rich.
> All it needs is new leadership.
No sane leader would ever change it to something that's actually not corrosive for the industry, yet not nearly as profitable.
I will consume not only your flesh, but your very soul.I don't understand the hate for it. People buy it. It is profitable, which, to be honest, is the goal of most game companies. If they are using a different method to take our money, what is the problem with that?
"Delenda est." "Furthermore, Carthage must be destroyed." -Common Roman saying at the end of speeches. You know this a lot like what happens everytime there is a there is a population boom in Sim City 4.
The total education level of the city goes down. But given time it will rise back up.
Likewise I see grabbing as big a chunk of casuals as possible and slowly train them to play more complex games.

Why would any company do that? Casuals provide more money than actual gamers.
I personally don't care because I avoid having a Facebook on the principle of privacy.
"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelI don't see the problem with this really.

You don't really... get it, do you?
Our society is paleolithic in that those who are smart are undeniably considered worthless compared to those who are stupid but stronger.
"Smart" and "cool" are the opposites. Having hobbies that are not shared by everyone makes you extremely uncool instantly. There is a stigma against videogames that instantly makes you a fat no-lifer once you touch one. And that's despite the gamers actually having social life between each other, in that there is a dedicated community around each. A community one of the main goals of which is to become better and to help each other become better, but socializing is incredibly important also.
Some of the casual games are fucking hard, I'll tell you what. Zuma's Revenge? Is it casual? Hell, Zuma series is played by bored secretaries for years and years. Is it hard? I have no idea how to beat the final boss. He has three forms!
Now let's take Farmville. Farmville is not challenging at all. You cannot become better at this game because all you can do is spend more time and money at it and attempt to hook up more of your friends (it's a financial pyramid too). People can literally spend many hours a day doing menial tasks. So essentially it's all videogame communities offer without the "becoming good at something" part.
Now the question anyone who's playing Farmville asks is: what kind of person would ever play something non-casual, something that requires something but socializing and wasting hours of time mindlessly clicking, something that needs reflexes and brain? A big fat smelly nerd, that's who. Ew.
I swear to the Weaver of Wires I am not making this up. This is the actual logic of people I have asked.
ergo farmville does nothing but reinforce the overall hatred toward regular vidiya games.
damn I need to write about it in my blog but no one's ever read it anyway

I will consume not only your flesh, but your very soul.I still don't see a problem... and I hate Farmville with a passion so I refuse to play it, so I can't say anything about it.

Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!Euh...
I wasn't really expecting that.
I couldn't have put it better myself. What you said on the end was completely true. I've heard people say that too.
I liked it back when ANY video game made you a nerd at least.
Now its even more insulting. "Our "video games" are cool but yours are for nerds!"

^ I entirely disagree with this. What kind of people do you hang out with that actually think that? There's assholes around that act like that, but almost everyone I have met in my life and chosen to interact with either A. Actually plays them or B. Doesn't really care about if you play them. The only people who act like you describe are the same ones who are assholes to anyone who is differient to them, and shit like farmville has no chance of changeing their mind.
Honestly, I'm rather disturbed that anyone has that impression of society at large. And most people, unlike what you see on TV, don't actually think Nerds are not cool. They think that they're people, just like anyone else.
Edit: Uhm, just realised you were from Russia. Might be different over there, but in my life things are far different than what you have described.

"Delenda est." "Furthermore, Carthage must be destroyed." -Common Roman saying at the end of speeches.
Well well looks like we have a new challenger.
Apparently many on Kotaku have started expressing their wishes for its doom ever since the news of the company opening up was released.
