Winx Club on Nickelodeon

I'm waiting to see if they dub Season 4
I enjoyed the 4Kids cast as well because the voices were very distinctive. The Nick cast is getting better, and even if they were cast because they sound similar to the original Italian cast and Cinelume dub, I find that the Nick cast is better at emoting and the voices are more likable than the Cinelume dub.
Besides being uncut and near accurate to the original script, I am unsure why people like Cinelume's dubbing.

It is facepalm moment when you realize that if 4Kids had just left the series content intact, they would still have it to this day. They didn't edit the show to appeal to male viewers, half of what is in Winx isn't that objectionable, but the editing certainly didn't do much to make the show more appealing.

I watched the Cinelume Dub.

... Okay, it did have Musa say "I could sleep for ten hours!" after that thing with the magic mirror in the third season.

But I'll miss Bloom, Stella and Layla's VA's anyway.

The new season just aired today. I didn't realized it until just now.

New season as in the CGI one or one of the seasons that hadn't been adapted for the US yet?

Fourth season, the CG one doesn't premier until September.

hmm, the commercial implied they'll get moar powerups this season. plus their core group is bigger.

and the trix really need a couple more permanent members [that angel dude from season 2 who worked w/ lord darkar & vanished would be a good candidate]

i recall the trix were kinda underwhelming in the baltar season [did they even get a powerup, like the gloomix they got from darkar]

in case you're curious, yes i'm a guy [basically a Winx Bronie] & yes i watched the old 4kids dub [on an old black & white tv, made it look Darker and Edgier, like a manga]. i only found techna annoying [besides those The Scrappy pixies] the rest was cool. Bad Girl Darcy controlling Bad Boy riven was fun.

i wish more european animation was dubbed & brought over.

Okay, I admit that I squee every time Roxy talks, she is just too cute.

Well, let's see how things are here, people. I know this is highly disputed, so we should fix it:

Nick is not really butchered, just summarized in order to get soon working into the 3sd, 4th and 5th season (5th and 6th are confirmed and Nick will actually co-produce them). That's why Seasons 1-2 were compressed into the 4 specials.

The dub changing was because RAI, who's actually supervising this dubbing, disliked completely 4Kids' dubbing, so they had Nick doing a re dub(shortened by the reason mentioned before). That and that 4Kids, a daughter company of Time Warner, was not gonna allow them use the one they did before. Why didn't they realize there's a fine dubbing in Canada made by Cineleume and used as a base for every other dubbing in the planet (like here in Lat Am) is beyond my compehension... except that, probably, Cine4leume's still dubbing it for another network there and they couldn't use it as such (of course, internationally Cineleume's being used, but with Nick's intro and it's seen on Nick instead of CN).

Also, anything about Nick dubbing that differs of 4Kids has a reason directly related to the original or a direct response to the shortening:

• Layla into Aisha: Aisha's the real name of the Princess of Andros, Layla was used for the dubbing due to the original being off limits for the dubbers. As RAI is now affiliated with Nick for the dubbing, Nick can use the real name for their dubbing.
• The Magix Winx into Charmix: Erm... Continuity Nod for me. The actual Charmix was left out of the specials (season 2 was crammed into only one special, "The Shadow Phoenix"), but they gave it a wink renaming the basic transformation (which had been nameless since day 1).
• The clothing changing answered to this as well: Winx changed their civilian clothes in the middle of season 2 and were never gonna be used on the actual series(Winx Dubbing of 1-2 is not considered a series, so...). They changed their clothes in order to avoid questions about sudden clothing changes that were gonna pop up if they kept it.
• Sky-Brandon: Nobody brought it(I think), but did you note that the Winx knew about Sky and Brandon being... well, Sky and Brandon? I mean, Nick got rid about Brandon/Sky switchover. Reason? The whole switch arc was left out, as it was a kind of secondary arc Nick wasn't gonna use in the specials. Also, they probably left out the whole episode with the Patchaman, that explains(in a simple foot note of the episode) why they changed identities. That because the episode was not much into the Shadow Phoenix arc and they were only gonna have that arc on.

I think that covers all the points... I guess

I didn't get into Winx until its third season, the first two were just too corny it was the 4Kids V As that kept my interests because they clearly enjoyed their roles. Anyway, just saw a S5 trailer... oyi, they changed Bloom's voice =_= I have heard anyone else besides Aisha and Icey. I liked the Nick cast how they are, there was certainly no need to replace Bloom's VA, and the girls were getting the hang of their characters. Unless it is the same VA and she simply became comfortable with her Bloom voice, but I am doubting it. It sounds too much like RAI Bloom.

Anyway, I OD'd on Sirenix and Harmonix vids and songs for the past two days.

It does sound like they changed Bloom's voice. Maybe the original RAI VA somehow got the job back?

I wasn't too impressed by the Harmonix transformation, but that Sirenix!

I think Season 6 will take place underwater, the Sirenix looks are optimized for underwater travel it seems and the henshin song is obsessed with mentioning the sea/underwater motion.

It seems like Harmonix and Sirenix are both season 5 transformations.

Nice to see Aisha finally get proper transformation action. Her's was always short and felt unimportant.
I think it is because of the water theme and her role in S5 that contributes ^_^

Season 5 begins. And is kind of lame. The Trix at least are able to hold their own now. Not sure why Flora was having any issues though. the whole thing was really cheesy, even by Winx standards. Hopefully it will get better when the plot gets moving next episode.

Oh, and now we know more about Mitzi's family then Tecna's family. Good to know who gets priority.

It is just Winx Club, and the good parts never really recovered after Bloom Sue from season 3 (No matter what anybody says about Nabu's death).

Hopefully transformations and fashion will be top notch as usual though.

Anyway, the main problem for the episode was that it didn't feel like part of a season; more like a pilot for a test audience or something like that. Still, it was well animated. The part where Stormy mixed up Darcy with one of her clones was worth a chuckle. Flora doesn't get many one v. one battles, so it's nice to see her hold up against Icy. Though I have no idea why Flora was apparently having problems in the beginning. Next episode does look interesting though.

Makes sense, it's the first real Nickelodeon episode. It was probably made with both Test Audiences and Potential Producers in mind, so it had to be pilot-ey.

The animation looks great! Aside from whatever happened to Sky's face...

The OP is by Elizabeth Gilles, right? It's very good. They should really do a Music Single release for every OP if they're going to have the Nickelodeon stars sing them...

Preview clip of the next ep is up on You Tube. Already looking much better. A classic royal family power struggle. I think a few of those mermaids (the queen and princess) have appeared before.

• HA! What a cute debut. Reminds me very much of 80 cartoons, in terms of pilot and character introduction.

• I think the animation looks very crisp, very brightly done. It kept the style and palette of S4 but obviously with more boosts and fluid framework. If that makes sense.

• The Winx being known on Earth feels nice to me, they don't have to dash around corners to transform or lie to people about who they are. Though the situation still isn't as known as when they are on their respective planets and Magix.

• I hope Flora continues to train. She was never much for strength, but she has a lot of heart.

• As for the Trix, they are just being who they are best at... just plain mean. I was half expecting one to at least heel turn by now. Mainly Stormy lol. So does anyone else half-wish that another Witch was added to the group?

• The intro and out(ro?) song were catchy, I was expecting something bland, it is very upbeat. Though perhaps it might be too American for other regions? I do wish it was longer though =_=* gotta wait for months until a full version is released.

Too American? How?

Compared to the Italian openings, they were very pop with a certain sound. It is hard to describe, but the S5 has a different sound to me. Even when Nick dubbed new lyrics for S4 opening, it still felt very much like a typical Winx Club song.

Anyway. Ep2.

• Everyone (minus Nabu ) got a chance to show their skills.
  • I suppose you can argue that the convergence should have been used a head of time, but then there is the fire and the people and the water to worry about.
• I think Flora should have sat it out, she is too connected with plant and earth life to be in a fight. But at least Roxy showed that she wanted to help, and it is nice to know she accepted being a fairy.
• lol I don't understand how Aisha's cousins are in the "one is hot, the other isn't" zone. Besides their personalities, they seem alike in appearance. There father isn't exactly "fatherly", but I admire this masculinity.
• This episode reminded me of Captain Planet. Without the need for one person to take on everything.
