It should be very decent. Reasonably accurate and light weight ammo. Stick magazine and a durable weapon system.

Plus, my wife can shoot an M1 Carbine pretty well. Worthless past 200 meters, but it gets the job done.
Happiness is zero-gee with a sinus cold.

You have to be able to run them, and they're big and clunky.
While spears are mentioned, there's been no mention of hand-made javelins. I guess they're not easy to aim; hard to hit the head with a thrown stick.
The term "Great Man" is disturbingly interchangeable with "mass murderer" in history books.
