A lot of people hate Common's Electric Circus for not being Like Water for Chocolate, but I think it's an adventurous album that I think epitomizes the Soulquarians' talent.
"It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt." - Some guy with a snazzy hat.Since 90125 and Big Generator have plenty of defenders I won't pretend they've been discredited. However, I quite like Drama, the album Yes recorded with Trevor Horn and Geoff Downes which tends to get unfairly overlooked.
I wasn't aware that The Mars Volta's Octahedron was not well-received, but if that's the case then I'll defend it as a pretty good album. On some spots the arrangements are a bit too sparse, but compared to the clusterfuck that was The Bedlam In Goliath, it was a decent return to form.

Chinese Democracy and Death Magnetic. I was hoping Lulu would be one of these, but then I listened to it.

Kitsune: I thought people hated that and Universal Mind Control for being too much like Kanye West or whatever?
go ahead and do every stupid thing you can imagineI wouldn't think so. People usually thank Kanye for rejuvenating Common's career after the "disaster" that was EC. EC gets a lot a flak because it's far too ambitious and way too left-field for even Common. UMC gets a lot of shit for leaning too close to electro, I guess.

"It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt." - Some guy with a snazzy hat.@Kyle Jacobs:
The first Def Leppard album. I think I might have mentioned that before, probably way back near the start of the thread. Oh well. It's not up to par with Pyromania or even High 'N' Dry but it's a fun listen in spite of what the band say.
I'd also be inclined to suggest the first two Bon Jovi albums. It's probably somewhat more focused on keyboards than most of their albums from 1986 onwards, maybe like a heavier version of Journey. I guess I like that sort of thing, though I recognise it's hardly a cool thing to like.
What else have I been listening to recently? Well, there's Turn Back by Toto, which is really one of the best rock albums of the early-eighties. It's got some pretty good songs and it's almost entirely ignored. Again, not a cool band to like, but I that doesn't bother me.
And... ?
You shouldn't really bump the thread without adding anything new...
This thread hasn't had much activity in a while. Which is sad, because it's a good one.
Not how things work in this subforum.
The 5 geek social fallacies. Know them well. That's not how things work in this forum in general. You really shouldn't bump without a contribution.
It might actually be against the rules, come to think of it.
go ahead and do every stupid thing you can imagineReally?
The 5 geek social fallacies. Know them well.I think so, but I don't feel like checking and it's a silly thing to report someone over.
go ahead and do every stupid thing you can imagineI like the music forum but it doesn't have a lot of activity compared to the others, so it's a little bit disappointing when you see new thread activity and it turns out to be a non-contribution.
I know. ._.
The 5 geek social fallacies. Know them well.I'm also prepared to admit that my above post might be taken as one of the non-contributions I've just described.
EDIT: As is this one, I suppose.

(Too lazy to see if this was mentioned before) I like Transgression by Fear Factory which, from what I've heard, seems to be considered their second worse album. I actually liked it a bit more than °BSΩLE+e which seems to be considered their best.

Demanufacture is definitely considered Fear Factory's best. Obsolete is considered second best, and I could agree with that, if only because it comes off the heels of Demanufacture's surge of creativity.
Speaking of Fear Factory, Concrete is disowned by your typical mallcore FF fan - probably because it's too under-produced and extreme for their virgin ears (deathgrind, anyone?) - while I happen to like it.
Can't say they've released anything worthwhile aside from the three albums I've mentioned here anyhow.

go ahead and do every stupid thing you can imagineYeah, I'm not sure at what point I became a sneering metal elitist wannabe either.

Transgression has issues as a whole album. It works really well up until Echo Of My Scream but that is then followed by:
- Supernova - bad song
- New Promise - another dud
- a U2 cover
- a Killing Joke cover that just makes me want to listen to Millenium
and then Moment Of Impact, which would have been good if I didn't have to slog through 4 crappy tracks to get to it.
A damn shame, considering that if they had taken those 4 tracks out it would have been a really great, if too darn short, album. I have the version with the bonus live tracks though, so they make up for it somewhat. :3
The 5 geek social fallacies. Know them well.I don't mind Digimortal too much. Mechanize kicks the arse of most things they've done before, however.
Early Judas Priest is great. Those albums for the most part seem to be well-regarded but not recognized much on a popular level. Sad Wings of Destiny, Sin After Sin and Stained Class make for a very strong trilogy, and they're more stylistically varied and textured than the ones that came after.
