No, I know who Cromwell is but I didn't know why we would dislike him IC.

And why the hell are you dumping him on us? Technically he led a revolution, yes? Even if he ended up becoming a dictator immediately afterward?

Because Collins and Cromwell fighting on the same side ends with the universe imploding.

Do people have serious objectons to someone playing a girl based on Cromwell?

Honestly, I don't think any military leader should be banned but unless you're cool with taking controversial and unpopular figures like Stalin and the like then I'd dodge it.

I'd also warn as stated above that Cromwell has some built in enemies on the Secessionist side of the fence and those who know a bit more history on him will be a bit wary towards friendship.

I'd recommend letting Rena read this and have her reconsider her choice since it makes it a bit harder on her to play and sign up made clear she wasn't aware of too much history save the aesethic look of the Roundheads.

Rena? You have any thoughts on the matter?

Let the recond stand as of now: Major controversial figures in the last century like Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot, ect., are not allowed.

so the Chairwoman Mao joke will forever be just a joke, for those of you who actually would draw inspiration from such things.

What's that old saying, "Time heals all wounds"? Hopefully that will apply.

We already have Andrew Jackson, and there are plenty of people who foam at the mouth at the mention of his name. He was over a 150 years ago though.

[up][up][up]I'd have been iffier but I spent the first few days certain it was "Stonewall" so erm, yeah. It's a matter of demographics and myopic history [Of which I'm by no means exempt]. There's a lot more people with enough Irish/Engish in them to know and hate Cromwell or fear/dislike Collins, while we lack many Native American and Armenians players to object to Jackson or if someone put forward Enver Bey.

So do you really not want Cromwell?

Like you said, its demographics and myopic history. I'm not British so I'm not really influenced here. But if it will cause problems with players before they even get to playing the game then I don't think we want it.

I'd have trouble R Ping being friendly and I think we'd have to put her with the loyalists but I'm cool with it. I wouldn't stop someone [that I trusted as an R Per] from playing Stalin, Hitler or Pol Pot but I just don't think anyone would befriend the character very quickly is all.

I'd be worried about GCR and advise Rena to pick someone else but she hasn't popped her head back in [Preferable after reading their Wikipedia page and/or related TV Tropes Page].

I'm a Roman Catholic. I don't like Cromwell much either.

We're flanderizing them, right? I was hoping to have an uber-zealous, prim and proper magical girl, not to make a statement.

Seriously, guys. If anyone seriously cares about Cromwell, I'll switch up. However...

Like I said, I really don't know any in-depth history of Cromwell. I chose him because he was the only really major one that I could think of off the top of my head that wasn't taken.

And no, I won't take Hannibal. That's too gamebreaking.

But yes.

tl;dr: I don't give a crap about Cromwell's politics, I just want the general arrogant personality (that I feel he probably had).

Her defensive power will be called Madame Protector, for example.

But, yes. I can change it. Montgomery's still free, right?

I only know Montgomery from Patton, which would...

Wow. That'd fit in with what I'm going for.

It'd be Lilith all over again...

Bernadette Montgomery, anyone?

Seriously, the "feminize their names" thing is hilarious.

Buuuuut... there are no tanks. What'd her power be based around?

Think for me, people!

But I wanted a power called Madame Protector...

Ah well.

Guncannon (+1 to 2-3 tiles away attack) and Reinforced Armor (-1 to 1 tile away) would work just as well...

Well, okay, I'll tweak them. But still.

(Seriously, I had no idea that Cromwell was so offensive. Perhaps I should make a Martina Luther?)
