Yup, with my Dad. Happy Fathers' Day indeed.

Support Gravitaz on Kickstarter!I'm watching.
Nil, a new sci-fi/horror story that you should read and review! (Updated 4/something) ''The gate opens.I thought it was generally good. I was disappointed that they went with the "main characters encounter human bad guy" plot so soon, but it was neat to see Major Davis in something else.
And I'll be surprised if those harnesses don't end up turning the humans into a kind of alien.
I liked it. I thought, uh...the outlaw leader, whatever his name was (Pope?) was interesting, his whole outlook and whatnot is pretty plausible and you don't necessarily see that many characters like that. (Actually, I'm thinking of one particular thing that he said that was quite lampshade-y, but I can't quote it exactly...)
Being a New Englander who goes to school near Boston, it was geographically amusing, and I think they mostly got a pretty good Massachusetts out of Ontario. Shame that there's not actually an Acton armory...I feel like they deliberately filmed the exterior at night because presumably they couldn't use a proper armory because there aren't any like that in Canada? Well anyway, someday something will finally be filmed where it's set, but until then, I can wait...
Flora Segunda | World Made By Hand | Monster Blood Tattoo ^You should read these series.Yeah, I think they did that plot so early so that they could introduce Pope, and have him around for the rest of the season.
I definitely enjoyed it, though, and I'm gonna keep watching.
Nil, a new sci-fi/horror story that you should read and review! (Updated 4/something) ''The gate opens.Honestly, Pope's my favorite character so far. He's got some great lines. "The way I see it, the only place this is all going is downhill." and "Good conversation? Are you joking? The last book any of these guys read had a Dog named Spot in it."
"Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person that doesn't get it."My dad was incredibly annoyed with the frequency of commercial breaks. He felt betrayed by the fact that they said "presented with limited commercial interruption" and then basically didn't. I really haven't been watching any TV lately...so how'd the amount of commercials strike all of you?
Flora Segunda | World Made By Hand | Monster Blood Tattoo ^You should read these series.I don't watch much TV these days, but it kind of felt like the commercial breaks were shorter, but there were more of them.
Nil, a new sci-fi/horror story that you should read and review! (Updated 4/something) ''The gate opens. My dad said exactly the same thing!
It did seem worse than other shows that promise limited commercial interruption.
Support Gravitaz on Kickstarter!I was just amused that they made Pope rascist, sexist, anti-intellectualist, grubby, anti-patriotic and with queer and rapist overtones all in one. He practically screams I AM A VILLAIN!
I like the performance though.

This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet. The breaks seemed a bit shorter and there might have been one or two less in an hour but overall I'm used to "with limited commercial interruptions" meaning maybe two breaks or regular length, in an hour.
"Tyyr's a necessary evil. " SpiritThe examples of "resistance making things too expensive for the guys with overwhelming military-technological superiority" that the history professor pointedly didnt use was kind of amusing - you could practically see him thinking ".. I should probably not add vietnam and the afghan wars onto this list", and honestly, Pope is right - those paralels do not work. The invading forces are gleefully happy to inflict any levels of atrocity nessesary to pacify the planet, and have what certainly looks like a reliable means to enslave people. Predictions: the skitterers are not the invaders, but a race the invaders enslaved previously and are now using as cannonfodder. The conversation about the walkers was a heavyhanded hint, and nobody inclined to build machines of war would willingly engage in conquest *while naked* - the skitterers arent even armed! basically, the invading forces are using them rather like the resistance used the bloody dog. .. Which means the resistance has so far managed to 1: Blow up robots. 2: Murder fellow victims. Go Team!
Margaret; win! Excelent character, excellently acted. Rest: okay, I guess.
also, ads? What are those.
If they ever decide to give the invaders a motivation for the attack I really hope it's not some stupid cliche like resources or water.
"Tyyr's a necessary evil. " SpiritAgreed. Is there a trope for Aliens that invade Earth for it's resources and water while bypassing the iceladen rings of the outer giants and the mineral rich asteroid belt? Not to mention we would gladly trade them all the resources they want for their advanced tech. On Poe: If their going to keep the "skitters" essentially personalityless a human villain is needed. And yeah, he's by far the most interesting character on the show so far.
Trump delenda estThe one unique resource earth has is people. - presumably there are lots more planets with biospheres than there are inhabitited planets with biospheres - after all, up until absurdly recently earth had both abundant life and no toolusers, so people is the only thing you could collect here you couldnt elsewhere with zero opposition - add the fact that they are mounting slave "collars" on kids, and the best theory is that this is a gigantic slave raid.. Which implies really disturbing things about the economy and social structure of the society responsible for the invasion.
Covered under Howto Invade An Alien Planet.
But...but...they already have robots! What do they need human slaves for? Unless the robots are controlled by human brains.

Trump delenda estAre the robots entirely robotic? Surely they'd have killed enough to know...
This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet. That was a point I was confused on as well, as they were calling them "mechs" (which led me to assume they were piloted craft), but also referred to them as robots at one point.
Visit my contributor page to assist with the "I Like The Cheeses" project!I'm almost positive that the robots are somehow run by the "harnessed" children. Either the harness learns from the kids or it attaches to their brain or something. Also, cudoes to the writers for coming up with cool Mini-Mecha designs that look like they'd actually work.
Fight smart, not fair.Ehhh, they're pretty damn spindly.
"Tyyr's a necessary evil. " SpiritYou'd be surprised how spindly you could make something and still have it move if you don't have to run stuff through it.
Fight smart, not fair.
Anyone else watching the premier right now?
