Other than being a weird attempt to garner pilgrimages by Tenchi fans to visit the town it's set in, the premise reminds me a bit of Negima... Established harem protagonist becomes undercover teacher at an all girls' school. Dafuq?

As to the new Tenchi Muyo… no chance they can have a crisis crossover involving every version so far?
Apparently it's based on Momotaro. I suspect it's AU to original, but that might not be the case since Washu is involved with the initial setup of the plot.
